Lord Subrahmanya Swamy
Feb 2019 • Couples
Subrahmanya Swamy temple, on Indrakeeladri Hills, is situated adjacent to Goddess Kanaka Durga, at Vijayawada. After visiting the main deity, we take a u turn to reach this temple. The idol is very beautiful and pleasant.

Now it is easy to reach the top of the hills as there is a lift where these temples are located at the 7th floor. One can have a good darshan of both the deities here.

A very powerful temple of Lord Subramaneswara. Visited recently ( last week of december 2016)

While belief and devotion draws a devotee to the abode of Lord Subramanewsara, the journey itself is very lovely and lively. Prefer the KARAKATTA Route( alongside Krishna river) from Vijayawada to Mopidevi. The route takes less time to reach Mopidevi from Vijayawada. The place is full of greenery and one can see the lush green fields growing Paddy, Turmeric among other things. The ubiquitous Plantain( banana) groves cant be lost sight off. On the way, one can buy farm fresh vegetables-be it the raw banana, chikkudu( beans), brinjal and the many varieties of fruits. For those from non-A.P., try NAARINJA ( sweet cum sour fruit),which is a delicacy.
As regards the temple at MOPIDEVI, the presiding diety is Lord Subrahmaneswara( Lord kartikeya), with his cohorts, Valli and Devasena, blesses us . One can perform Sarapdosha puja nad kalayanam. No good eateries there and those that exist, the hygiene conditions are nothing to write home about. We eat harmless idli, vadaa of the minimum quantity. Carry plenty of biscuits, safe drinking water. Milk, Coffee, tea are available, thou.Have the blessings of the Lord. We went by a car.. There are plenty of busses too.
