About
We are a 5-Star Padi Dive Center located on the island of Roatán, Honduras, just outside West End. We have been operating since 2005, offering PADI courses from Open Water all the way to Divemaster, taught by our qualifiedd instructors. Classes can be held in English, Spanish, German, Italian and French. Our class size is limited to four students per instructor. For those of you that want to try diving for the first time without having to take a full course, we offer Discover Scuba Diving, which is a quick and easy introduction into what it takes to explore the underwater world. With over 50 different dive sites to choose from, we take you to some of the best walls, canyons, caves, and wrecks the Caribbean has to offer. You will experience calm, warm, clear waters (yearly average temperature: 24-32ºC, 75-90ºF). At Octpus Dive School we focus on smaller groups and personal attention, catering to our clients expertise and interests. We also organize private trips upon request.

We did a dive and stay package with Octopus Dive School and enjoyed it (8 nights and 14 dives). Pablo and Caleb are awesome divemasters/guides.
The dive shop did a great job of going to different sites each day. We did not dive the same site twice, so we were able to see all that Roatan diving had to offer. Captain Landito also made sure we made it to the dive sites safely!
Equipment was well maintained (Scubapro and Mares), the boat was fast and safe, and dive groups were small.
Nuria, the owner, is amazing! She partners with different hotels/accomodation in Roatan to offer dive and stay packages at reasonable prices, and she made sure to respond to our messages in the timely manner. She made us feel like family while we were there and was super accommodating when our plans changed (we ended up extending our stay and adding more dives). She’s super kind and passionate about what she does.

We were excited to return to Roatan and Octopus Dive School after two and a half years. Nuria and the crew welcomed us with open arms. After a quick refresher, we got back in the water, and that's when we realized it had been a while since our last dive. Alejandro patiently helped us work through it and also guided us through the Advanced Open Water course. The buoyancy dive was incredible, teaching us so much and truly elevating our diving skills.
We are so grateful to Niria, Alejandro, and Lupe for their passion for marine life and their wealth of knowledge. I can't wait to return in the spring for more training, fun dives, and underwater meditation with Alejandro!

Our experience with Octopus Dive School was wonderful. Nuria and her staff were attentive, knowledgeable and just plain fun to be around. The shop has a family type of atmosphere. My wife and I took an advanced open water class, and a friend of ours took the open water diver class. All three of us had very positive experiences. Our Dive Instructor Alejandro Abad was excellent. His ability to explain and demonstrate advanced concepts and techniques was superb.
In addition to instruction, we dove for several days after our classes were over and had a great time. The boat was clean and safe with an excellent Captain, and all of our rental equipment was fairly new and in good working order. We will definitely go back to this shop again.

Hands down, this is the best dive shop on Roatan. Their service is exceptional (it’s all about the cookies)—you’ll leave with unforgettable memories. The staff continuously educate and support you, helping you become the best diver possible. They treat you like family, and you truly become part of their community. We’ve been loyal customers for years and see no reason to go anywhere else. As someone who is extremely cautious with dive shops, I can confidently say this is the best experience we’ve ever had. Great for couples, solo, and families. 🐙

We just spent 4 amazing days with Nuria and her crew at Octopus Dive School. They had tremendous flexibility with us and we opted to do a deep adventure dive and nitrox certification while there. Alejandro was an amazing instructor and really made sure we had a full understanding of the material. He also shared his favorite reef spots and marine life spotting and has an authentic passion for diving and marine ecosystem protection. Lupe (sp?) was also an amazing guide. She buddied with my son and let him explore a bit but was constantly within arms reach making his parents feel very assured. We’re already planning for a return trip hopefully in early 2025.

I returned a few days ago from Diving two weeks in Roatan with and wanted to give my review on this fantastic team captained by Nuria.
The adverbial speech “of fear” has two main meanings:
• something that causes terror.
• something that is very good, impressive or excellent.
In the case of Octopus it is obviously the second... I have to admit that from the management to the captain of the ship they are an excellent team.
It is a “small” dive center with the good that this type of center has (at least for me), the closeness, comfort, ease for everything and in this case the perfect balance between cordiality, security and adaptability.
I have had the fortune to dive with all the and I gave them master and it has been a pleasure to share water and good humor without ever forgetting security.
A hug for Nuria and for everything, all the team that have made me enjoy 20 wonderful and very relaxed dives. From those two magnificent wrecks in the area to watching turtles dance or being surrounded by huge groupers... But that is already talking about fauna and in this message I want to give importance to the human team that makes a good dive into something excellent.

I can’t even find the words to describe what an incredible experience my husband and I had with Octopus! We came for our open water certification and ended up doing a couple of bonus adventure dives. The owner Nuria welcomed us like family and immediately made us feel comfortable. Our instructor Pablo was patient, hilarious, and attentive. I always felt safe knowing he had our backs, and I never thought I’d have the experience of laughing 40 feet under water but we did a lot! I knew I would enjoy diving but this was a like, remember for the rest of your life experience. We already want to come back!

We’ve stayed an entire week at the Inn of Last Resort and went scuba diving at Octopus Dive School almost every day: also every single dive was fantastic! Great organisation, superb weather, calm and cozy location where you can also relax very well after the dives yummy cookies, watermelon and coffee for free after every morning dive, less than 5min walking from the Inn of last resort to Octopus Dive School and last but not least very friendly, sympathetic and fun people working there!! Thanks a lot and hopefully see you soon again!

Came here with my cousin and her husband and we all had an amazing time getting our Advanced Open Water cert with Alejandro. He was very nice yet serious when needed, you could tell how much fun he had teaching others tools and tricks to make diving even more enjoyable and safe. We also did some fun dives with Pablo between classes who was very friendly with years of experience to share. The staff here make you feel very comfortable and safe.

My mom and I completed our open water certification at Octopus Dive School, and it was so much fun! Everyone at the school was so nice, and our instructor, Alejandro, was amazing. He was great at teaching us everything we needed to know for diving and making it such an enjoyable experience - we even got some fun pictures underwater! I highly recommend diving with Octopus Dive School!

Hi, we are scuba divers and dove with Octopus Dive Shop. They are an amazing dive shop but not really close to West Bay. They are in Sandy Bay so I probably wouldn’t use them for a snorkelling trip. Right in front of Infiinty Bay Hotel the snorkelling is very good and you can definitely go without a tour. If you get out to the deeper part 20-30’ we saw eagle rays, turtles, squid, barricades and lots of fish.
But if you want to go to a different spot using a boat or tour I would recommend using Clearwater Dive Shop. You can walk to it from West Bay and their prices are posted on their website... $30 per person.
Another way to do it is to book a sunset Catermaran tour. We paid $60 a person for a four hour tour. They took us to two snorkelling spots, the Blue Channel and Fish Den, fed us chicken wings and nachos and lots of drinks. And we enjoyed a great sunset out at sea. Rogercat Catermaran Tours.

We were in Roatan last week and they certainly were open. Don’t want to sway your opinion to use a shop but I personally would recommend ANY shop but Octopus. I had a great experience with Sea Divers (just down from them) after a poor experience with them.

Hi - we had our family of 5 with one instructor.... perfect for us. there were others on the boat who had one-on-one with instructors and every other combination. The boat held about 14 ish people in total sometimes full and sometimes not. If you email or call them they will work with you. And we did come to shore between dives - super close ! The dives are usually at 9 -11 and 2 so you can do 1, 2 or all 3 dives in a day. I think they have some night dive options if you are interested.

Octopus is a PADI shop. We spent a week there in June 2015. They offer full services. Nuria (owner) and Velvet and James (all 3 are instructors) do a very good job of training. All are very personable, and seem to be knowledgeable. Prices are reasonable. You can sign up for any level of training there. Octopus has a nice little dinghy they use. They have equipment to rent. One thing they do not push is the snorkeling just off the beach. There is lots of seagrass just offshore and tons of animals in there and around the concrete abutments nearby. Great critter photos.
