I booked a solo trip to Roatan on a whim and booked with Coconut Tree Divers. I used their recommendations for places to stay and eat. I originally booked a 10 dive with nitrox package but ended up adding additional dives. I can't say enough good things about this dive shop. They really make you feel at home. It's an extremely friendly atmosphere from the shop to the boat. All the dive masters, Cruz, Tina, Shane, Aaron, Rachel, and Denver the boat captain, as well as the divemaster trainees, did an extraordinarily great job. Gay was a pleasure to deal with and always there to answer any questions. From day 1 she made sure I was introduced to everyone. I will say there was a very difficult guest onboard the 1st half of the week, that failed to listen to the dive plan and the dive masters did a phenomenal job dealing with that one person, but it didn't ruin the experience for everyone. It was also nice since there were several divemaster trainees (Olivia/Paul/ Rob/ Mateo) they could tend to divers that needed extra assistance. The boat had fresh water on it and a boat briefing of emergency equipment was given. There was plenty of room for a lot of divers, but the divemaster to guest ratio was always low. The divemasters knew the dive sites and briefed them well. The boat was an easy giant stride into the water and easy to get back on. The dive sites are loaded with great coral and lots of fish it's definitely a healthy reef. If you're going to come to Roatan, I'd definitely book with Coconut Tree Divers. I know I will be back.

Coconut Tress Divers is, the only diving facility in my travels around the world that I ever had a sense of loyalty with and the first facility I had ever book a return visit to.
âą Driving force, everybody return safely after a great diving adventure, the money just pays the bills.
âą From the start, I was given my own gear and locker for the duration of my stay.
âą Within 48 hours, people were greeting my wife and me by name, at the facility and on the street.
âą My top four diving experiences ever and I very much enjoyed the other fourteen as well.
âą For the two courses I decided to take during my stay, I was provided with, one on one instruction.
âą They got to know what diving experiences I enjoyed and did their best to accommodate.
âą Based on experience, ability and task, small groups are made up to ensure the best experience.
âą A hundred plus of the nicest diving spots to choose from, just minutes from their location.
âą They went out of their way to spot and assist anyone having the slightest challenges with their diving. In my case, my gear had altered, which affected my buoyancy and body angle. It was noticed and rectified at the beginning of the next dive.
$$$ DOLLAR STORE $$$ â Coconut Tress Divers are big supporters of local schools. So if you happen to visit a dollar store before you come, all supplies are needed and very much appreciated.
Special thanks to; Gay Ted and Rachel

I spent 5 weeks at Coconut Tree Divers getting both my rescue diver, dive masters and side mount. The dive centre is incredibly professional through top of the line customer service and exceptional diving within a 10-20 minute boat drive. I could not have been happier with the dive master training I received as they continuously challenged you to be a better diver and provided a hands on experience by working in the shop. Coconut tree creates a friendly environment the second you walk into the shop and makes it hard to leave, especially after a post dive Salva Vida on the deck. I could not recommend a better dive shop to get any level of diving certification and also to have a fun filled dive trip with.

First, of the many dive shops in Roatan, booking through their website was the most simple and straight forward. I have my basic open water cert, but hadn't dove in about 15 years, and my friend had never SCUBAed, so we booked round trip transportation from the cruise ship, the Discover Scuba Diving program and an additional dive. From the moment we got to the shop, it was clear that everyone had a real love of diving. Diane was nervous about the whole concept, but they expertly reassured her and answered all her questions. Ted and Kathryn quickly realized I had some experience, so they upped the skills practice for me and shifted their primary focus to Diane. They definitely spoiled us, taking care of all our equipment to the point we didn't even carry our own fins to the boat. We never felt rushed, but they knew exactly when we had to be back to the ship and got us back with a comfortable margin. Long story short, Diane is already asking me when our next dive trip will be!

I had the best experience imaginable at Coconut Tree Divers. I came and did my Divemaster Training from October to December and stayed in their Pro house for lodging. The house is rustic with the option to have A/C or not (I went for a/c!) and has a really nice pool and deck and fine dining restaurant on site. The rates are shockingly reasonable for what you receive as far as housing and dive courses. The staff is eclectic and professional from many backgrounds and parts of the world. Each of them are passionate about what they do and teach every day, and they do it beautifully and enthusiastically. Especially good with kids and individuals of varying abilities. Fun is to be had by all at CTD.

Just returned home from a week of diving in Roatan with Coconut Tree Divers and I cannot recommend this outfit enough. Their personalized service was not only phenomenal but a breath of fresh air in an industry that so many times forgets that they have customers.
Gay, Monty, and all of their crew were not only very professional and attentive on the diving, they went out of their way to ensure that we knew where to go and what to do when we weren't able to be in the water.
Our group of three couples came as customers but left as friends. We will definitely be using Coconut Tree Divers for all of our diving in Roatan from now on.

Jan 2020 âą Friends
Got my advanced open water certification with them. Turtle Ted was our dive master and he was excellent. We did a night dive and saw the string of pearls bioluminescence which was out of this world. Price for course and additional dives was very cheap compared to other dive shops Iâve tried at Roatan. The dive shop is right in the middle of west end so you can walk to get something to eat. There were 6 of us doing the course and they were very flexible on dives and class work. They are all about safety and not trying to pump as many customers through like many dive shops do (in my experience). I did a few dives with other dive masters there before I started the course and they were all friendly as well and ready to help each other. One worked with a friend of mine to figure out his breathing on a regular dive so he could enjoy diving more then he already did. Would highly recommend this dive shop.

The family visited Roatan on a Royal Caribbean cruise in November 2022. Gay assisted greatly with the arrangements; her email communication was prompt and precise. We were greeted by Murphy who transported us from the cruise pier to Coconut Tree Dive shop. Upon arrival at the dive shop the staff was warm and welcoming.
My wife, sister and our three boys went snorkeling at the reef and had a fantastic time; watching the abundant sea life in the warm waters of the Caribbean. Unlike the other snorkeling vessels we passed that were filled to capacity, our group had a very intimate and enjoyable experience. They had the entire snorkeling area around our boat to themselves. My sister who has a fear of underwater sea life was at total peace and felt extremely secure in the hands of the Coconut Tree team.
I had the opportunity to do 2 dives with our Dive Master Thibault, who was very accommodating and ensured the all divers were at ease for a pleasurable diving experience. Thibault was very responsive and shared his knowledge of various sea life with the other divers as toured the reefs. The family had sufficient time to do some shopping at the cruise ship pier before the ship departed.
I would recommend diving and snorkeling with the Coconut Tree team.

Iâve been diving recreationally for over 35 years at numerous spots around the world. As a result Iâve dealt with quite a few dive operations along the way. I first went to Roatan a couple of years ago to explore the diving and to do more formal dive training, and I was recommended to try Coconut Tree.
After my experiences, I can say Coconut Tree Divers is definitely my favorite dive shop, and well worth considering if you are diving in Roatan. (which is why i'm writing this long review which i almost never do) I was just down there diving with them again at the beginning of March this year. And the reef was still awesome.
As for the operation: The owners Gay and Monty are truly great people and run an excellent shop. (surprised I can even say that considering some dive operations Iâve experienced)
The instructors I studied and dove with, are fantastic which is a significant reason why I went back a second time and did further certifications. And why I will probably continue to do so in the future;
Shane is extremely well trained and certified, with great experience despite his age. A really great guy as well. Rachel is also a superb instructor with excellent experience and diving skills; she is thorough, knowledgeable, thoughtful and unflappably awesome no matter the circumstance. Basically a badass and a sweetheart rolled into one. I believe the phrase âmermaid queenâ was aptly coined for her...
Itâs hard to say enough good stuff about Ted. Heâs an institution unto himself and an awesome guy as well. Amazing as an instructor; great person to dive with; and great above water as well. An incredibly experienced and knowledgeable diver, who is also a course director with his own PADI course on turtles.
(Itâs actually called TED). Great person to discuss dive theory etc. with. As well. I Donât know how many 1,000âs of dives he has just on the reefs of Roatan alone; but youâre probably not going to find a better dive instructor/master in Roatan, or elsewhere likely
Otherwise Coconut Tree is an excellent âhatchingâ place for aspiring DMTâs. There seems to be an excellent system in place for developing dive master training skills, with a strong support network while doing the training.
Highly recommend them regardless of your experience level and aspirations as a diver.

Hola

Hi, it certainly is child friendly island and scuba diving shop. Hope this helps
There is the option about having a fan or a/c in the room. For July to september. Do I really need a/c?

Yes, there is an option of shutting off the a/c unit, its a personal choice and you just have to ask. However the cabins have both fan and a/c as well as our classroom.

We gave our dive master $20. Which went into a kitty to split between all parties. We thought that was fair, but that is just our take on it.
