We were on a cruise with Royal Caribbean and weren't very excited about any of the excursion options. We were looking for something a bit off the beaten path, away from tourists, to see some of the beauties of the island. We found Roatan Sun Splash Tours through Trip Advisor and I'm SO glad we decided to book our tour with this company. Stephanie and James were very responsive and communicative (via e-mail) to help us get our day set up. We had our own private driver and we went to Palmetto Beach to go on a private snorkeling tour with the dive instructor, Samuel. This was an amazing and magical experience, and then we had additional time to hang out on the beach with a couple of drinks, enjoying the beautiful serenity. It was exactly what we were looking for; highly recommend for anyone looking for a personalized, wonderful day.

The whole family (15 of us) took this excursion. Grandparents, aunts and uncle, husband, kids, and cousins. This was BY FAR the best family excursion we have ever done!
James and his crew took us to some of the most beautiful coral reefs we have ever seen to snorkel, (and we're from Florida). Everywhere we looked, there were all kinds of fish and sea life to see.
The food they prepared on board was phenomenal. I don't like mangos, but their mango guacamole was AMAZING! The crew was so polite and kind. Making sure our every need was taken care of!
Highlight of our trip was the wild dolphins swimming in front of the catamaran, going back and forth for like a 10 minutes. Would do this excursion over and over and over again. No one wanted to leave!
If you want to make memories on your vacation... This is DEFINITELY the excursion to do! Highly recommend it!

James and Stepanie Woods are the two most personable and knowledgable tour guides on Roatan. Not only will they show you the hidden secrets of this island, they will share their life stories and memories with you, and help you create some of your own memories. We look forward to going back again and spending time with this wonderful husband and wife team.

We had a group of 18 or so for a private snorkeling cataraman excursion. Booking with Stephanie was easy. We had a little mixup on the pickup time, as our ship docked early, but once we found James everything was fine. We had plenty of time on the catamaran--lots of food and drink and saw some great fish. The scenery was beautiful--for those that didn't snorkel. And we enjoyed the information about Roatan and Honduras from our guides.
Thanks!

We booked this excursion (iguanas, moneys and time at the beach) for our visit to Honduras on the Carnival Magic based on the Trip Advisor reviews. Stephanie was very quick to respond to emails and send confirmations. I felt very comfortable with the provider UNTIL we arrived in port and they were not there to greet us. One of the taxi drivers offered their cell phone so we could call Roatan Sun Splash. Stephanie answered when we called and stated that they had cancelled our tour due to the heavy rain in the area. She stated that we would receive a full refund of our $100 deposit. The taxi driver that lent us his phone offered to drive us downtown to go shopping, which we did. When Stephanie found out that we had left with the taxi driver, she got upset and refused to give us a refund even though she had cancelled our tour. Keep in mind that we (my husband, myself and our young child) were stood up by Stephanie and this company and if it hadn't been for the taxi driver, we would have had to go back to the ship. Stephanie instructed us to pay the deposit via Paypal and to label the payment as money going to friends and family, which has made disputing the payment with Paypal difficult. So if you chose to use this tour provider, don't expect them to show up if it is raining and don't expect a refund. Lastly, I am an avid Trip Advisor reviewer and this is the only time I have had to give a one star review.

With respect, you were given a 50% refund of you $100 deposit. You were not stood up that is a false statement. Your driver was in the parking lot taking shelter, when you called us he immediately started walking to you when you passed with another driver. We offered you (your husband on the phone) an alternate tour out of the rain, he preferred to go back to the ship due to the weather, but you actually chose to use someone else.
We were not upset or angry, we were concerned for your safety using an unauthorized driver in dangerous weather. We apologized for the mix up at the port and compromised on our refund policy for you. We send all our clients our refund policy and terms and conditions at the time of booking. We stand by our customer service, our rating and independent reviewer feedback reflects our customer care. Unfortunately the weather and confused communication didn't allow us the opportunity to show you the best of Roatan, for that we are sorry.
We wish you had given us the opportunity to resolve your concerns personally before posting this inaccurate review. We do however, wish you all the best to you in your future!

I was looking for something with a better price then what carnival cruise line had to offer on trip advisor. After reading through the review I decided to use Sun Splash tours. Best decision EVER. For $120 per person we did the extreme zip line and snorkel adventure. We had our own tour guide/driver James. James was very informative about the history and culture of Roatan. First we did the extreme zip line. It was a beautiful setting and a adrenaline rush. Luckily, we had brought sunscreen with bug spray in it. (make sure you have this). The zip line was soooo much fun. Then James took us around and showed us some highlights of the island. We were also provided with yummy snacks. They included fresh mango, apple bananas, and pineapple, all locally grown. Next we boarded a small boat that took us out to the blue channel for snorkeling. We had our own personal snorkel guide. This was THE BEST snorkeling I had ever done - and I've done it in Barbados, Cozemul, Bahamas, and Florida Keys. It was breath taking beautiful. Live coral reefs with lots of life, we touched a live lobster, held a sea urchin, and found a sand dollar. The water in Roatan was crystal clear and perfect. After that James meet us at a near by restaurant. After looking at the menu and the prices $15-25 per person we decided that we wanted a place a little less touristy. James took us to his wives favorite place to eat where we ate delicious food for $1 each. The company also guarantee's you will be back in time to catch your ship and there were no problems there. It is very professional local company. When we returned to the boat and had dinner with our group, we discovered we had a much better experience then anyone there. The beach by the boat is man made by carnival. We were told that the ocean is not clear there and is over crowded, and the only sea life they saw was a jelly fish. We LOVED Roatan and we are ready to take a vacation there and stay for at least a week next time.

If you want a great time and a good look at the Island of Roatan, I cannot recommend Roatan Sun Splash enough. James Woods and his wife Stephanie run an insider's tour, which is ALWAYS the best. We took a daylong with them, and it could not have been better. James, a former volley ball star who competed internationally, has great knowledge of the island, being a local, yet has a real understanding of people from other places. We also had them cater our meal the first night we arrived so we didn't have to "deal". It was yummy... Cannot say enough good things about them.

Roatan Sun Splash Tours provided one of the best family days we have ever experienced!! My family consists of my boys, 5 and 11 years old, and my husband and myself. We wanted a private tour with fun and adventure which is exactly what this package provided. We were on the Carnival Conquest and instructions on where to meet were clear and precise. James was our tour guide and was ready and waiting for us at the location specified. He shook our hands then my 5 year old grabbed his hand and was ready to go. James didn't hesitate and gladly held my son's hand on the way to the car. We loaded up and headed off!
While traveling to the different locations, James explained the culture and information about the plants, animals, etc. He kept it very interesting on the drive and happily answered our questions. We arrived to our first stop at the Iguana Farm. The boys got a kick out of seeing, touching, and feeding these huge tame iguanas. There were also macaws, monkeys, turtles, and fish to see. We stopped to watch a monkey eating a sucker which tickled the boys because the monkey would dip it in the water in between licking it just like them. We also saw many ocean fish and James knew what kind they were. He was so impressive with his knowledge of many things. It made the experience so much better.
After enjoying the iguana farm, we headed off to an area to see some dolphins from a distance and some more fish. It was so neat getting to see the colorful fish just below our feet on a pier. The dolphins weren't far and we could see and hear them. We were also lucky enough to get to try some sea grapes (I think that's what they were called). James showed us how to get some and he rinsed them off for us for us to try. We then loaded back up for our next stop. James had water and snacks for us in the car for the drive too which was great!
We arrived at the monkey and bird sanctuary. We were led through many areas with different monkeys, birds, and animals. The monkeys were a hit!! They would stand on our shoulders and heads. The kids LOVED IT!!! (I did too!!!) There was another named Lola that would reach her arms out to hug the kids... then she stole a hat off the trainers head and laughed which was hilarious. There were also birds that would stand on our shoulders which was so neat. The boys were able to feed them all sunflower seeds too. We saw other animals too and got to interact with some others. This was an amazing experience that I would recommend to anyone with kids - truly unique experience and great photo ops!!
When were were finished there, we made our way to beach. James was awesome and made a stop at a supermarket so we could get a fresh pineapple after my husband told him he loved them. James took us to a beach area where we were practically the only ones there. Aside from a handful of locals that walked by on occasion, we got a beach to ourselves! James brought some snorkel gear, tube, floats, and even sandpail and toys for the boys! I was blown away! He even took the pineapple and cut it up for us. WOW!!! We do NOT have pineapples that taste like that at home! This was the most juicy and wonderful pineapple I've ever tasted. We had our lunch here as well that was INCREDIBLE. The beach area had hammocks, tables, and chairs for us as well as clean bathrooms. I felt like it was our little paradise here! We also picked some fresh mangos and tried them. The boys floated, snorkeled, swam, ate, and had an amazing time on the beach. I felt so sad to leave....
I'm not a strong writer, so I feel that my description above doesn't do any justice to the AMAZING experience we had. It was perfect and just what we were looking for... and more. The personal attention combined with having a local as a guide made the trip that much better. My boys say this was the greatest day ever and we have to agree. When we left, we felt we made a forever friend in James. His patience with my children and his knowledge and eagerness to give us an incredible experience were beyond appreciated. I honestly hope to see James again someday... soon!

We booked the private snorkel and beach excursion with Roatan Sun Splash( family party of 8). Stephanie, James and Moody delivered as promised. Although we all enjoy cruising, we wanted to get away from "cruise crowds" while in port. Enjoyed private snorkel trip with Moody who took us to a very nice shallow reef. Lots of fish as well as huge lobsters and conchs. We then took a boat ride to private beach where we had a nice lunch prepared for our group. Spent the afternoon relaxing. These folks are lovely people to work with. Setting up our tour was easy and they were responsive. It was a fabulous way to spend one day in Roatan!
