The monastery is now partially converted into a hotel. The place of an average interest. There is a sarcophagus of Saint Naum. They claim you can listen to his heart beating.

Situated on a hill overlooking lake Ohrid this monastery is named after the medieval saint who founded it although there are ruins on the site of earlier christian worship, from the 900's, including some interesting mosaics. Well worth a visit preferably with a guide.

Sven Naum is just an extraordinary place, a tiny tiny tiny extra small village at the top end of south east Macedonia, at the border with Albania. The monastery is pretty and offers nice view over the lake and both Macedonia and Albania. But I truly recommend you to take the path going west when you are in front of... More

The transport to the Monastery of Saint Naum is very well organized, you can enjoy a boat ride, go with a car or take a cab. Once you go there you will be amazed. Remarkable gardens, stunning views and beautiful peacocks walking around. We ate tasty fish at one of the restaurants and after took a ride with a small... More

You can reach the monastery by a big boat taken from the bay of Ohrid or by car. We went with the boat, as we wanted to see more, but regretted the decision at one point. It is very, very slow, takes about an hour and a half to travel the distance that takes around 20 minutes by car. We... More

This 2 km trail is very nice and recomended. The beginning is near the monastery - a sign showing the entrance into the springs area. The path leads into the nature reserve around the springs, and back to the entrance road parking. Very easy walking trail leads to some beautiful points of view, of the clear springs. At the end... Well worth a visit, as well as the monastery which is quite small they have beautiful gardens and a lovely beach once you get past all the stalls selling tourist paraphernalia etc, but they are not pushey and sit quietly waiting for you to come to them. A good thing. Take the row boat trip to the source of the... More

This is a monastery I will never forget! The monastery itself is very beautiful, but what makes it special are the peacocks! Tens of peacocks walking freely, climbing the monastery roof!
