Church looks the same as any other churches in Ohrid, but they charge you to visit it. Although the staff gave us a discount for the tickets because we were nice to him, I don't think this place deserve to charge for tickets.
There's no information panel about the place, neither in Macedonian nor in English. That's why there are some people outside Plaošnik offering a guide service for 5 euros. We didn't hire them. We were confused when local people are queuing up and worshipping something inside the church. We are curious and want to know more. There's no person nor information panel explaining to us what we are supposed to do there. We wanted to follow their customs and do what we're "supposed to do", but we can't because we don't know what we're supposed to do. We left the place after 5 minutes. It was a total waste of ticket money. Nice walk if it was for free, but would not recommend going inside if it charges money.

This site was very disappointing. It costs 100 MKD per person. There is no signage, information or staff, so we still have no idea what this site even was, or how old it was etc. Much of the site was also roped off, including one of the two mosaics. It's a real shame because there is clearly something interesting here. Perhaps try reading up online before you go in order to get something out of your visit!

Plaoshnik, Early Christian Basilica, and Tomb of Turbe Sinan Leelebi are all located here, in front of Saint Climent of Ohrid. The entry fee is 100 dinara. The archaeological historical site, dating back to the 8th century BC, with artefacts discovered from the Hellenistic culture, as well as from the Roman and early Christian times. It's still being excavated, so it's a work in progress.

It is a little hard to find this place but worth the effort despite the lack of information which is a little frustrating I admit. Touts offer their services for a few Euros to show you around of you so choose. The Church itself is lovely - it looks similar to other orthodox churches but they are all different and have their own charm, as does this one.

They are now charging for entry into the Plaoshnik site, and, in my opinion ruining it by building two enormous new buildings which will be a new University. Where in the world would you build, literally on top of ancient ruins from 2nd Century CE and possibly earlier in a UNESCO World Heritage City. I think the whole plan is bonkers. That they are now charging for entry is somewhat offensive, yet sensible. Offensive because there is a church there and they have made no effort whatsoever to label what it is you are looking at, make paths which are not a hazzard to walk along or even sell a guidebook or similar. Sensible because hopefully they will raise some money to invest in these things and not just a huge fence and a ticket booth! The Roman mosaics, old basilica and archealogical remains are well worth a visit though and are of excellent quality, not to mention the new church which, in my opinion has been excellently constructed with the remains of the original building kept visible but preserved, hard to explain but very well done. Just buy a guide book and read up on what you are seeing before you get there because there was no leaflet and nothing on sale explaining what you are looking at when you are there (good job we've been many times and know!).

Saint Clement of Ohrid was a medieval Saint from Ohrid, scholar, writer and enlightener of the Slavs. He was the most prominent disciple of Saints Cyril and Methodius and is often associated with the creation of the Glagolitic and Cyrillic alphabets, especially their popularisation among Christianised Slavs. He was the founder of the Ohrid Literary School and is considered as a patron of education and language by most Slavic nations.
The church of St. Climent was built in 893 year on the foundation of the early Christian basilica, and dedicated to St. Panteleimon. It was here where the Ohrid Literary School, a center of Slavonic literary and cultural activity, was found and were educated more than 3,500 disciples. St. Climent was buried in this monastery, in the tomb which was built by his hands.
He is regarded to be the first bishop of the Macedonian Orthodox Church, nowadays the patron saint of the Republic of Macedonia, the city of Ohrid and the Macedonian Orthodox Church.

This 5th century basilica was restored in 2002. We loved the way it still highlights the original walls and foundations still standing from the 5th century build with glass floor segments and clear separations in the walls.

Plaošnik is an archaeological site close to Samuel's Fortress and is overlooked by St Clements Church. The site is hugely significant as there are many interesting discoveries from the past. The baptistery within the complex has intricate mosaic floors, unfortunately alot of the relics have been lost over time but in the future the site is planning to have konaks, the mansions as they would have been at the time of Saint Clement of Ohrid.

Since excavation works continue not many parts are visible to the public, however, the nearby buildings seemed to bring hope that in the nearest future, the place could become more interesting, educational, and informative for tourists.
Currently, there is the possibility to see the church, as well as some of the recent results from restauration works. There is, however, a lack of information about what can be seen.
