I have been to Lake Suchitlan twice. Both times taking a boat tour. This past trip we took a much longer tour, I think it was close to three hours but it didn't feel like it at all. Our guide (whom of which we located waiting by the dock) was very knowledgable and had lots of information to share about... More

This lake is not far from the main area of Suchitoto. It's quite nice and worth a visit if you're in Suchitoto.

I recommend passing the lake located in a hot humid valley and drive up to the mountains to Cerro Pital or even San Ignacio or La PAlma.

A beautiful, big artificial lake. One can take a boat ride there. The entrance to the area is for a fee. There are little shops and several restaurants offering local typical food. Fish and shrimps were from the ocean though.

We went out on a boat (about $30 for an hour trip - do bargain) to tour round a couple of the small islands on the lake and bird watch. The day we went lots of reeds had been blown in which made the journey slower than it should have been - and we were also caught in a rain... More

We took a standard trip on the lake for an hour and we were lucky enough to be told about the families in the area during the revolution. The boat owner was actually a 12 year old soldier who had lost most of his family during the civil war. He felt that if people asked, her would share his story.... More

The lake is lovely and the walk down is scenic. Good for a quiet place to sit for awhile, you can also take boat rides, which I didn't do but looked pleasant. Should be part of any visit to Suchitoto.

Went for a pre-booked guided 5:30am kayak and birdwatching tour (with a surprise visit to a little island with an odd hermit cave) which was finished at the nearby small hotspring...this was a fantastic way to start the day. (The lake is a flooded cornfield- inquire about its rather tragic history). Ask for Daniel at Suchitoto Adventure Outfitters. He was... More

Peaceful, lots of birds. Rene was the best guide. Finished up with sunset watch and drink. Interesting tour. Very much enjoyed.
