Our guide Paúl was very knowledgeable. Very conversational and fun! We learned a lot about indigenious history and modern life.

In June we found ourselves in Rio Bamba. I had seen pictures of Quilotoa lagoon on the web and really wanted to go there. I called Paul super friendly he was hiking Chimborazo with a group and still took my call. The next morning were picked up and on our way. Our guide also Paul (inside joke 2 Paul's in the same place) was super friendly and well informed. We had great fun talking. The lagoon itself is extraordinary. Even beautiful pictures cannot give you the breathtaking view, the colors, the sounds and scents. Paul had a wealth of information. You walk down to what was the volcanic crater and can cayak on the lake. The walk up is challenging in this altitude or you can take a mule up as we did which was a special experience in itself. On the way back we stopped for a very special local treat. It is evident to me that Chimborazo tours love what they do and will make sure you have an unforgettable time. Thank you Paul and Paul.

What an amazing place! Breathtaking views, and a humbling experience to the power of nature's geography! This place is 4800 meters above sea level (15750 feet); and that is only at the first refugee (as far as a car can take you). After that, you have to walk to the second refugee, and third if you dare! If you are not used to this altitude, take your time walk slow, and don't panic if you feel out of breath just by walking... is normal, and you will eventually acclimatize...

We climbed Chimborazo twice, through Christmas and the New Year and it was a magnificent climb through steep ice and rock bands. Not challenging technically but demanding due to the altitude. We camped outside the Carrel Refuge both the times and had our meals in the refuge. From there to the top takes around 6 hours up and 4 hours down. Great views and the height of 6310m is great to achieve for my friend for whom it was her first 6000m summit. Be careful about rock fall from the crampon point.
