It was wonderful watching the birds fly. Got to hold one on the glove. Hard to see the big birds in such small areas. They have a large variety.

Loved it, at first I thought caging the birds Im not going to like this, then you learn all about the clinic, you see the birds in full flight, thoroughly enjoying the skies and returning to their safe haven. Time well spent, $5 entry absolutely worth it. We felt like we were sitting at the coliseum.

I've been putting off going to this place the last few years as birds aren't really my thing. I made the leap this year when family was visiting and I have to say that I'm happy I did. It is a beautiful drive up to the place with some stunning views of Otavalo. There are plenty of 'birds of prey' to look at while waiting for the demonstration to start. A word of caution - check their open hours as they have been changing them as late. The first time we went there we bumped our noses on their gate! The program is all Spanish and it makes it so much more interesting if you understand what they are saying. I am not good with Spanish but our driver was along who could interpret what they were saying for us. I would gladly do it again as it was a great way to spend the afternoon. At the end of the demonstration they offer you the opportunity to have your picture taken holding one of the hawks. There was no charge for this but you need to have your own camera. A very interesting and worthwhile place to visit.

The best part of this facility is that it rescues wounded birds, most importantly condors. If you have never seen a condor up close and personal, this is the place. A quick trip from Otavalo and well worth the visit....live demonstrations.

Don't bother with a tour, just take a taxi from town to have freedom to travel when you want. A good place just to see lots of Raptors but the flying experience makes it a great half day out. Amongst the birds there is a female Harpy Eagle, with details of her life and her 18 offspring (plus grand-children!) who were successfully released into the wild. She herself fell out the nest and permanently damaged her wing in 1989. The flying of birds usually happens twice a day and is good entertainment as well as the actual flying There is a cafeteria on site if you should get peckish. Great views of Lago de San Pablo, the largest lake in Ecuador, from the approach road to Parque delCondor, and views over Otavalo from the road to and from the park.
