I was in the Otavalo area for 6 weeks and visited this park often when in town. It's a great place to relax and people watch. Lots of benches both in and out of the sun and many people sitting on the grass as well. We liked to relax and feed the pigeons that frequent the area. From children to oldsters this park has it all. On busier days (like Saturday when the market is in full force) there are also plenty of food vendors. It's just a short walk from Plaza de Poncho and well worth doing.

Sit on the benches and learn about the indigenous war hero, who defended the tribes of the Sierras in Northeastern Ecuador. Gaze at the yellow government building, the church and Daily Grind coffee shop.

The park offers great people watching and free wifi to plan your next adventure. It's worth the visit at night when colored lights make the park look pretty neat.

Located a few blocks from the artisan market, Plaza de Ponchos, this park offers a relaxing place to hang out and people watch. There are several historical churches and other buildings nearby, too.

This is a well-kept and charming old square in town in Otavalo. We stopped here to get a snack and find a rest room before going to the market. I observed the locals visiting, resting, and enjoying this little park, and appreciated the experience. They all seemed to be simply enjoying that moment in time.

We visited the church on one of the sides of the park to light a candle and give thanks.
Then, we walked in the park to view the other street to see what they offered.
We picked up a large Pilsner beer for $1.50 and two plastic cups at a shop. Before exiting the shop, we met a friendly traveling instrument player from Columbia( guitar, bamboo flute )
We listened to his music, while we enjoyed the beer at the park in the early night
I placed a $10.00 bill in his hanging tip container, before we returned to the Hotel Dona Esther, nearby.

Just an average spot in the city. It would have been nice, if it were not for the countless homeless people coming up to me just demanding money. Sad really, this place could have a lot more to offer.

A typical city square with a great garden and lots of people activity. Truly the heart of town because it is filled with locals as opposed to the market which is full of tourists.

So lucky that we are only a block from this lovely park with a beautiful church on one side. The Christmas tree went up today and several Christmas were already up. Well maintained and lovely place to relax.

Interesting place in the centre of town to relax on a bench and people watch. The municipal palace is on one side of the street with Iglesia San Luis on another side.
