OK in daytime avoid at night
Jan 2019 • Couples
We were warned by a local that we met on the flight to Guayaquil to avoid this park at night apparently there are muggings and the surrounding area is not nice.

In the daytime it was fine a big square with trees, statues and benches to sit, we passed through to visit the Malecon, and it was becoming dusk around 7pm when we walked back, needing to pass to get to our hotel further down the road. Even at that time it was not nice at all, there were not that many people around and as we walked around the outside rather than through it there was an eeire feel and stench of urine.

Not nice at all - get a taxi back if your hotel is the other side of the park.

Guayaquil's Central Park
Feb 2018 • Solo
This is the closest Guayaquil gets to a Central Park. Unclear as to what 100 year anniversary to which it is dedicated. It may be the liberation of Ecuador because it is bifucated by Blvd 9 de October which is the street named for the date of the independence of Ecuador. In any event, it is a gathering place for locals and there is a metro stop along one of its sides. It's great during the day but a little seedy at night.

Amusing iguanas
Jul 2017 • Solo
Also known as Parque de las Iguanas, the park is home to countless iguanas freely roaming around and so used to people taking photos of them. Kids love playing with them. Some iguanas are so smart they nod at you relentlessly to feed them. Try not to step on the poop though and watch for pigeon poop on your head too (lol). It's right across the cathedral, you won't miss it. It's also free to enter the park.

Another iconic place of Guayaquil
Dec 2016 • Family
While in downtown make sure you take a look at what is possibly our second best known monument (after the "Rotonda"), which is the "columna de los proceres", inside this park.
It will not take you more than 30 minutes to walk around this place and then you can continue your excursion / visti in downtown Guayaquil

my review of Parque Centenario
Feb 2017 • Solo
If you position yourself in the center of the city sure find you a full monument of history that they over contains the events of guayaquil's independence, its called la Columna de los Próceres this great park that divide one of the main avenues of guayaquil, the av. 9 de octubure, the park is ample, inside of the he has a lot of trees that give a cool climate, as also you can see artistic works at each corner, and in the doors artistic monuments, people can observe at first sight, traditional photographers that hold up an ancient guayaquil's memory, as well A lot of informal commerce exists and this can displease certain tourists. This park is very unsafe at night

So many iguanas
Nov 2016 • Business
This is a small but interesting park. There are iguanas all over the place, and they're very interesting to watch. Be careful if you walk under the trees, the iguanas tend to hang out on the bigger branches and will occasionally drop some unpleasant gifts on unsuspecting passersby.

I love this park
Feb 2016 • Couples
This park features what I consider to be the "Statue of Liberty" of Ecuador. I first came here over 40 years ago and the park has only gotten more beautiful with age. I have sat in this park for hours enjoying the ambiance and smoking my pipe. One of my favorite places to unwind in Guayaquil.

nice park with a lot of interesting statues
Dec 2016 • Solo
Parque Centenario is a stop on the Metro line, it lets you off on 9 de October which is one of if not the busiest street in the city. The park has a lot of very nice statues, great gardens and walkways.

Big Park
Mar 2016 • Family
If you place yourself in the center of the city of Guayaquil sure you come across this big park that divides one of the main avenues of the city, it contains a monument full of history that reflects the events of the independence of the city. It’s a different park because it has no games or entertainment, it`s a park to sit take a rest and relax because it has many trees. But not everything is good in this park because you must be careful, because you are exposed to suffer robbery.
Around the park you can see many places of lodging with affordable prices and some shops. This park is very interesting because it is historical and in the middle of the square you can find an imposing monument Column of Heroes, on either side there are statues of Olmedo, Febres Cordero, etc. At the main entrance there are statues of horses and charioteers.
