The museum was of modern design. They covered early pottery in a different way than some of the other museums we had visited in Peru. Mentioned and showed some recent research on fertility figures through the ages. There was also a photography exhibit and an...More

This is a vast museum, very modern, cool and clean, but with a bit of a mix of exhibits. There is quite a lot of Ecuadorian antiquities, but I'm a little suspicious of their authenticity as they are in remarkably good, pristine condition for such...More

The 'Museums' are in a series of rooms off a long, dull, unimposing corridor. A guard is stationed in the corridor but there is no one to give any information. The series of rooms of the Contemporary Art Gallery come first. They house a variety...More

We had an extra day in Guayaquil before going to the Galapagos Islands and decided to visit this museum due to its location to our hotel. It was a pleasant surprise, seeing the cultural wood carvings and pottery; even though it was pretty sparse, it...More

Good place to visit if you want to know a little more about Ecuador. Nice ceramic collection and very interesting pictures. The museum is located in a very touristic place ate the Guayas river.

Amazing amount of Central and South American ceramic pottery. Unfortunately all descriptions are in Spanish only so we wish we had an English speaking guide for a tour. Could have spent much more time here.

This seems to be a huge building but there was very little to see. The best exhibit was of ancient pottery, but since they don't allow photography of any kind (with or without flash), I'm willing to bet you haven't heard of their collection. They're...More

information about the history and formation of Ecuador is extremly interesting and dense. The presentation is rather poor - one has to read a lot of text with no highlighted words or phrases. I tired very quickly, and asked for a guide. There are not...More

this is an interesting museum, shows some nice art plus a good combination of ancient pottery from princess-Inca cultures. while the art is interesting, I found the Anthropology aspects way more interesting.

We spent 2 hours visiting this museum and were accompanied by a docent who spoke excellent English for most of the exhibits on the main floor. They were well lit and identified and traced the anthropological and historical roots of Guayaquil. The dioramas were extremely...More
