Definitely must visit place in Vukovar, Vodotoranj is place that summarizes all the aggression of JNA and pain, courage and spirit of Croats, specially it's defenders.
Vodotoranj it self offers a great look in all 360', we were there on sunset an it was beautiful.
Surrounding area is very well arranged, you have coffee and souvenir shop, nice park whit benches to sit and enjoy the view.

This was shown to us on a bus tour and found it very interesting as a part of their history. Would I go way out of my way to see it? I’m not sure. But is important to keep the historical story of a boy and his flag story alive so gave it a 4 star.

My wife and I were here for a few hours in April 2022 on a Tui cruise. The bullet ridden Watertower was the highlight of Vukovar. Although it may not be much to look at as a 'bullet ridden' Watertower - it certainly acts as a reminder of the difficult times which the region has been through.

Beautiful view of war damaged city and Danube river. It still carries wounds that represent what the town and it’s people went through. On a lower floor there is a memorial center that tells a story of terror.

Must see when visiting Slavonia!
Great history, and other people stories. Our guide told us many facts we didn't know from before. Very interesting and frightening.
We also saw hospital and ovčara. It was very touching.

The water tower is just one of many places that demonstrate the damage done during the war. However it is also good to see what has been rebuilt including the modern City centre and the repaired bridge.

During the war in the 1990s, this tower was hit many times. Each night when the artillery fire head not the flag of colour volunteers would go put another flag back up on it. This kept other artillery fire from hitting more civilians because it became a target .

I recently visited Vukovar. During and after my visit I have been learning about the conflict and war that propelled Vukovar into the headlines for all the wrong reasons and, despite having followed it on TV at the time, I realised how little I knew. Ferocious fighting took place here over an 87 day siege - shells and rockets were fired into the town at a rate of up to 12,000 a day and 90% of the town was destroyed. The water tower is a reminder of that fighting, having been hit more than 600 times. A visit will bring the events home to you. The sobering thought for me is that this took place in Europe in the 1990's.

Wow! Not only is the devastation something to behold, but knowing the story of the battle of will's, truly enlightens one to the suffering that for the most part, the rest of the world ignored. It makes me wonder if history is repeating itself in Syria?
