Varaždin is a beautiful, old town with a lot of history. This castle is one of the things you shouldn't miss if you are in Varaždin. When you go inside you feel like you are in a fairytale :). Absolutely must see if you are in Varaždin.

The history walls are just amazing, and there you can still see where the water was sorounding the Old Castle. Interior of the Castle is as in Fairy Tails. Just love it.

We visited Varazdin unfortunately in a hurry as we spent one day touring in northern Croatia. I really regret not having dedicated a full day to this city. After 2 weeks in Croatia this is one of the top 5 experiences. The city is extremely nice, nearly no tourists compared to Dubrovnik or Split and many interesting things to see... More

Historical building are always interested to us. This year our kid also start to understand the differences history between countries. We all learn from the past so we like this (Gradski Muzej Varadin) museum.

The is interesting old building but the descriptions of artifacts in the museum were difficult for an English speaker to follow. Hrvatski would be good to know. Having said that, it is worth going. xxx

Varazdin Castle stands next to the city centre, an imposing reminder of when Varazdin was a frontier town defending Croatia from the Turks. Varazdin Castle was rebuilt in 1560 in Renaissance style, and is currently a civic museum with collections of weapons, porcelain, furniture, handicrafts from the 18th century.

This is really worthwhile with an extensive collection spread across many rooms on three floors. The furniture pieces were amazing in how intricate the woodwork is. There is glass, clocks, clothes, paintings and more, well worth the small fee.

If you like old, forgotten towns, this is something you must see! Friendly people, good food, history and nice architecture are here. It used to be a capital of Croatia. There are good stories about the town, the best one is about the angels....and you should follow the path of angels :) But, that's just one story and Varazdin has... More

You should take a tour, it is quite nice to see some of the exhibits. They are a collection - not very thriving but nice.
