Opatija is the Croatian Riviera and is a beautiful place with old Austrian architecture - well-worth a visit!
Rovinj is entirely different with narrow streets and Italian style buildings. Excellent place to visit.
The mini-bus was air-conditioned which made a comfortable journey and the drivers were friendly and sociable.

For anyone who has not been to Venice this is a must! Transport to/from the hotel to Pula, then 2 hours by Catamaran to/from Venice is included in the reasonable price. Optional tours, again at reasonable cost, are offered while on the Catamaran - can recommend the transfer from dock to St Mark's sq by boat and trip round lagoon and back to dock to save getting lost in the maze of streets between the centre and Catamaran mooring. The gondola ride offered is also good value, saving the hassle of haggling with a gondolier and possibly paying far more than expected! The Atlas guides were very good and organised when it came to dealing with a wide range of nationalities speaking various languages.

All in all a lovely day trip, it's a long day and not something I'd recommend for young children but definitely worth considering while holidaying on the Istrian Riviera in Croatia.

Had a lovely half-day trip to Pula. We were picked up just past the end of our hotel complex (Family Life Bellevue), and traveled in a minibus, as part of a convoy of two. The journey took just under an hour, and the excellent, friendly guide chatted en-route, answering questions about the local area, which was really interesting.

The tour itself was in English and German and took about 1.5 hours, and then we had the same again as free time. Pula was great, but it was really hot the day we went, and we had two small children, so this was the perfect length of time for us. We were back at our hotel by 1.45pm.

Had a very good half day trip to Pula with a great guide. We had a good minibus for the 40 minute trip to Pula. Once there we were taken to the Roman Arena and had a very good talk by the guide who new his stuff. We then went to the market and shopping area. On the way we stopped at other great historical landmarks. We were the given free time to look round by ourselves having been given some pointers. For about 17 GB pounds each it was well worth it.

Descent Travel Company that we used for a couple of excursions. The mini bus was first class and the rep followed the bus initially to make sure all passengers got on which was a good bit of customer service.

We were in a 'small' group of about 15, split between two mini-buses. Our driver was very funny and engaging and kept us entertained as our guide (Mauro) swapped between buses to tell us about the parts fo Istria we were travelling through.
Porec and Rovinj are both lovely, historic, romantic and picturesque towns and a guided tour followed by free time at each gave us time to enjoy and absorb our surroundings. Just long enough to want to go back to REALLY explore. Mauro was very impressive providing information in English, German and Russian to keep us all in the loop.
The traditional Istrian lunch was delicious, with plenty to go round, including the local white and red wine in carafes down the tables. Sparkling and still water and cordial were also available at the tables.

I would highly recommend. The Lady in the office was super friendly and helpful. We booked the half day tour to Pula which we thoroughly enjoyed with our guide Mario (not sure of correct spelling) he was brilliant. The service was first class. The Lady (sorry I do not know her name) was at the bus stop to make sure all OK, she very kindly lent us her umbrella because it was raining at the time; we did not need it after, the day turned out lovely. Great Company and Pula trip was worth it. The next day Mario very kindly gave us a lift to Labin when he seen us standing at the bus stop waiting; we felt like a local, they are so friendly
