This was such an awful service - completely unprofessional staff and shoddy boat. We planned our entire trip around arriving in Venice on Boat including travelling to Croatia, only to find the boat was cancelled due to technical issues (obvious when we were boarding, but were still made to sit on a sweltering boat for 1.5 hours - no air con). Combined with the unprofessional staff who seemed to have a constant private joke going on, we were left to have to take a coach instead (which they did lay on). This would've been a fraction of the price of the ferry with no apology, or compensation.

This company is a complete joke. The ferry we booked never left the port, and the staff didn't care in any way that our trip had been ruined.

I would recommend getting the coach, it will probably get you there, much cheaper and with better staff.
Disgusted at the giggling staff and callous attitude in which they do their jobs. No compensation offered, not even a free coffee? Not even that - they raised the prices in the onboard cafe after the ferry was cancelled.

Enjoyable day when we finally got to Venice, it’s a beautiful place to see, the port in Venice was closed where we was supposed to be going so had to go the long way round to a different port in which took over 4 hours but was a little quicker on the way back, it wasn’t there fault but had a great time apart from that, we payed for the day trips for the day that was well worth the money, the gondola ride as amazing and so romantic, really glad we went and would love to go back to Venice to explore more :)

We booked the Venice to Pula 3.5 hour Venetia Lines ferry on 5 Sept which should have arrived by 20:00 hours. That day we received a message that the ferry was cancelled due to sea conditions and were offered a refund, or bus transportation to Pula. As there was insufficient time to seek alternate means of transport on such short notice without having to spend an extra night at a Venice hotel and lose a night's paid room in Pula, we accepted the bus offer. The bus took 5 hours, it had no toilet, and only made a 15 minute stop 1 hour into the trip, but was less than half full. We later found out that the sea conditions that day were NOT unfavourable to a ferry crossing. We are very sure that Venetia Lines cancelled the ferry not because of the poor sea conditions, but rather because it would have been unprofitable to make the crossing with such a small number of passengers. So, for the 140 Euros we paid for a 3.5 hour ferry crossing, instead we got a 5 hour ride on a less than adequate bus, when instead we could have taken a proper bus and only paid less than 55 Euros for a bus with a toilet. And because we arrived later than planned we had great difficulty in getting into our Air BnB apt. We felt ripped off by Venetia Lines. As other reviewers have said, this company seems to have become the new Pirates of the Adriatic. Buyer beware!!

Thank you for your response, though we must express our bewilderment at the tone and content of your comments. While we genuinely regret any inconvenience you faced on September 5th, we feel compelled to address your assertions. First and foremost, our decision to cancel the ferry on that day was grounded in an unwavering commitment to passenger safety. It is important to note that all other ferry companies also canceled their services due to unfavorable sea conditions, emphasizing the gravity of the situation. Regarding your insinuation that our cancellation was financially motivated, we categorically reject such baseless allegations. Our decisions are driven by safety and logistical considerations. It's essential to clarify that we offered alternative transportation only to one-way passengers due to the impracticality of providing alternatives to day trippers, given the limited time they would have had in Venice. Most of our passengers are day trips, that is why you noticed a half empty bus. We value constructive feedback, even when it is negative, as it helps us improve our services. However, your comments appear to lack merit and seem intended to tarnish our company's image and reputation. We take such matters seriously and will not hesitate to consider legal action to protect our reputation from unfounded accusations.

The ferry ride was really comfortable and surprisingly the time passed quickly with the help of Mickey our tour guide who gave us a detailed and very entertaining history of Venice throughout the day. He knows everything about Venice and was a fantastic guy and very friendly. The lady who manned the food station on board was lovely and really friendly also. Experiences sold on board were fantastic value for money and I would recommend the panoramic tour of the harbour

The staff on board are really knowledgeable and fun, we opted for the free guided walking tour with a tour assistant and it took approximately 40 minutes to get to the square, where we listened to the commentary and then headed off to explore on our own, we then had a pizza slice and kebab which was only 11 euro for both so affordable bites can be found in the back streets off the main square as it is very expensive, we then met up at a meeting point to go on a pre booked gondola ride again a 10-15 minute walk and then a half an hour gondola ride or so we thought.
You only have about 4 and a half hours in Venice which we knew so tried to plan ahead, get your guide has advertised it as 45 minutes in total however it took over a hour and a half due to the amount of people in our groups and other people already in the queues before us, so cutting our sight seeing time and also some people had pre booked other attractions so never got on the ride due to having to be at another venue so losing their money. The guide could only change times if they were all booked through getmyguide.
The price is actually cheaper on the ferry or when get there we could have saved 7 euro.
You can book on the ferry with the guides and they got on a lot faster than our groups
The ferry offers different options as well
Taxi boat in at an adult price of 20 euro, all children’s prices are cheaper on each option
Lunch 25 euro per adult
Gondola ride at 30 euro per adult
Water taxi back to the boat 30 euro per adult
If you op for all four it is only 95 euro
Please note : They only take cash to pay for the tours but give the option to pay on return so you can use a cash machine in Venice
Ingrid behind the bar was lovely and friendly, tasty croissants and filled rolls available
Overall we really enjoyed Venice on our short trip, the only other thing I would advise if you do want to spend more time sightseeing and visiting the other attractions is book accommodation for a night and get the ferry.

Terrible experience, I arrived at 6 am at the harbor in Rovinj, the ship was there, but nobody around, no signs that it was about to go. Finally somebody came, but just a ship-worker to say there will be no trip today. No manager around, no message, nothing. I ran to the bus-station to take the bus, it was late, I missed my train from Venice and did not arrive back in Austria on the planned date. There is still no refund arriving, I wait for three weeks by now. All correspondence is without answer. Is there anyone out there!!!??

We began our day arriving at the ferry terminal an hour before departure and parked in the paid parking close to ferry as it was very empty. Departed on time at 7 am and went up to Porec to pick up passengers. Left there by 8 am but didn’t actually start the tour (land in Venice) until noon. We paid for all additional add ins for 95€ each ( lagoon tour x2, lunch, gondola ride). Because we were so late arriving in Venice, we had almost no free time (total 40 min). Not enough to get past St.Mark. Square.
Guides were impressive in knowledge and changing languages. Knew Venice intimately.
Learned lots. Left Venice at 5 pm to Porec, then Rovinj by 8:30 pm.

Awful experience. 3 hours of unlimited noise and very loud explanations and descriptions we did not ask for, in several languages. No place to go to have some quiet, we were totally trapped from 8 am to 11 am.

To be honest I cannot confirm some of those negative reviews about the day trip from Rovinj to Venice with Kompas Tours.

Our experience was altogether quite good and we can clearly recommend it !

Organization: very professional. The departure time and location is clearly stated and by using google maps it’s easy to find the right pier in the small Harbour of Rovinj. Boarding was on time as well as departure. On board several tour guides provided in English, German and Croatian language information about the ferry trip such as duration, where exactly to arrive, meeting place for the return trip etc. in addition a bit of history of Venice and some practical info were given. Also Kompas offered additional packages in Venice such as boat taxi from the Harbour to the famous Markus Square, lunch package or a boat tour through the Canale Grande back to the ferry. Nobody was pushed to book anything but just offering options. Total trip time a bit more than 3h and not 5 h as some other people stated. Same for the return trip

Cost: we paid 279 € for 2 adults and 1 teenager not cheap at all but worth the money. As it was our first time to Venice we booked the taxi boat to Markus Square as well as the return boat taxi through the Canale Grande. For us a big advantage as we did not have to waste valuable time to find alternative transport but both cost another 125 Euro

Overall we gad about 5 h in Venice to at least get a glance of this beautiful city

The staff of Kompas was very friendly, supportive and professional

Last but not least the temperature on board the ferry was in our view just fine but apparently everyone has his/ her on comfort temperature
