Like most parts of Plitvice lakes, its hard to describe the sheer beauty of it. This fall is just below the bigger Veliki slap yet just as beautiful to see. We were ther e at the end of the winter period so couldn't get down to the board walks underneath it due to the snow on them but you could still get a good view of these from the high vantage point across from it. Still lovely to view it from there.

Sastavci is not "also called" Veliki Slap. They are two different falls. Veliki Slap is the "Great Falls" (i.e., the tallest/highest waterfall in the park). Sastavci is the waterfall below Veliki Slap, that will be on your right as you're heading toward Veliki.
Anyway, semantics aside, this waterfall is pretty cool b/c you walk right by/over it. It's especially nice in the morning when the gorge below is misty from the spray of these falls.

Although heavily toured, obviously, this set of turquise lakes and hundreds of small water falls is a MUST SEE, by any standard. In good weather, the color reminds you of Lake Louise in the Canadian Rockies, but there the similarity stops. You walk on narrow trails along the various lakes, partly over the water and greenery, and partly along it. Almost with each step, you see another awesome and breathtaking view. At some point in the tour you will reach a central place for picknicking or dining in a simple restaurant. From there you will also go on a boat ride, that will take you to the second part of the to tour. If you started from the north, you will now visit a few more lakes that are a bit bigger than what you saw before, but definitely not less beautiful. Don't miss any of it.

When you arrive at the visitors' center, take the tram up to the upper lakes, then take the trail back down in and around the lakes. The largest crowds will be at the big waterfall and lower lakes. The upper lakes trail will be much less crowded and more enjoyable. Then, later in the day hopefully the lower lakes will be less crowded, especially during the high season.

Towards end of our 2 hour walk - from Gate 2 to the Upper lakes, & then return all way back in the Bus/Train we aimed for Veliki Slap. We bailed out at Sastavci & got Bus back to Gate 2.
In retrospect ... is Sastavci "The Big Waterfall" ... it is usually identified as Veliki Slap ??
Regardless this is an imposing waterfall & one you can wander around. The boardwalks are quite good & the photo shot looking UP is hard to beat.
The mist & drizzle rain was not an issue ( anoraks all that was necessary - Don't expect to walk with an umbrella! )

Really can't believe how beautiful this is! Not the largest of falls but certainly mezmerizing! Didn't want to leave. Stay for a while and take pictures with the sun hiding behind the clouds and with the sun out! Gorgeous!

this park has many water falls and lakes. all are unique. This one is one of many spectacular falls in this park. you will not get tired of the multiple waterfalls. Each one is more beautiful than the other. afternoon time is the best for taking pic and u wont face much crowed as well. just be mindful about the last shuttle bus that takes u out from there. or if u miss the last bus then u got walk like 30 mins to come out which happened in our case
