Stara Baska is not a touristic attraction..it is a village, at the end of the road, where you can find your peace. Very quiet with no bars or stores, Stara Baska is a place for those seeking wild beaches, clear waters and scuba diving. Not to mention that the drive there is absolutely stunning. Highly recommend it for a relaxing vacation!!!

Stara Baška lies on the South West part of the island KRK. 17 km from the City of Krk and 10 km from Punat. Because of it's position it is a quite place even in the highest season. Stara Baška has pebble beaches and clear blue water. Unspoilt nature and mesmerizing view. Near the beach there is only camp, one market and a beach bar. Many cars are parked on the street (above the beach) and the people walk down the cliffs to reach deserted beaches.(Check Google earth for the terrain!). The parking near the main beach is free from this season! 2mins walk. :)

Stara Baska is a very small resort, even by Croatian standards. The beach is not crowded at all. If you are well equipped for rocky beaches, you can easily find your "own" little bay where nobody bothers you. This is exactly my idea of Croatia. Of course, such a place comes with disadvantages: Roads are narrow, it is not easy to drive or to park your car. There are only 3 restuarants in the resort, with the typical menu: pizza, seafood and croatian specialties of grilled meats.

The village has very narrow roads and I can't imagine how is it there during the high season. There are not many bars or restaurants there so you have to go to nearest town if you want that.
Some might like it because of its wilderness.

Stara Baska is definitely a place for those who need peace and quiet on their holiday. It's worth a longer stay, otherwise you might not discover the whole peace ond beauty of this village. The pebble beaches there are really excellent and one of the most beautiful in Croatia, in my opinion. As there isn't much parking space, there aren't many visitors from other places on the Island, so most of the beaches aren't very crowded, perhaps except for those in the port in season. There are several peaceful coves and small beaches, some of them more remote and accessible only if you have a boat, even the smallest one. I used a little rubber boat, which was good enough to find a beach where we could be totally alone, not disturbed by other tourists. The water is clean, with sea urchins in some places.
This is one of the most picturesque parts of island Krk, I think.

Best to visit out of season - we went in June.
The 16 km long, and the only, road (from Punat) traverses a treeless landscape of white limestone demarcated by low stone walls for penning-in sheep. The road as it approaches the coast and 'unseen' Adriatic Sea is a roller-coaster of bends. The first sight of the sea is sufficiently awesome to make drivers take their eyes off the road and passengers reach for their cameras.
The town is strung along the steep side of the hill. The road narrows alarmingly and as far as we could discern there were few passing places that did not cause the passenger to feel highly nervous.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TURN ROUND until you reach the harbour!
The best uncrowded beaches: Oprna Bay and the adjoining cove. On Google-maps 'satellite' find Stara Braska and follow the road back towards Punat. Just past the caravan site at Kamo Å krila is a long straight-ish stretch of road (an uphill incline) above two large coves. A line of parked cars is visible on the right hand side.
Park your car. Cross the road. Climb over the thigh-high crash-barrier and then pretend to be a mountain sheep and scramble down the hill-side to the sea where blissfully clear aquamarine waters await your endeavours.

As I was looking for the beach in Stara Baska I looked down from the road and saw that some people were laying on a small but beautyfull beach in a bay. I went looking for the road to go there, but I discovered there is none. You have to park the car by the road and hop over the safetyguard and go down a rocky and slippery path to go to this perfect remote beach. Parasols and sunbeds are available, but no one to pay them... :) For me and my family this was really nice to go to and the relaxed atmosphere this beach was remarkable.

Stara Baska is a very peaceful and romantic place at the edge of Krk island.
The beaches of the village are nice but it is definitely worth the detour of 1km south where we found the best ones.. no noise, no bars, just the white stone cliffs and the transparent waters of the Adriatic.
We highly recommend Pension Nadia with its beautiful views over the bay and very friendly staff.
1st time in Croatia.. 2nd time we'll surely pass there again.

We went there because top 1 attraction in Krk according to Tripadvisor. But this was not a good option at all for going with kids. The beach is small, with pebbles and no sand at all, and has nothing special. A nice view but which you can enjoy in many other places of the island. So it was açtually very disappointing. Much more recommend is Baska, a nice little but lively resort with all facilities, sand beaches, clear water and beautiful views.

It is not simple to get to the beach, but that's why it is so special. A lonely place, with only one caffe that is not to loud. Water is cristally clear, the beach is sandy and clean.

Grazie a chi mi risponderà !

Hi, no you can go just walking after left your car on the road, but remember sometimes the police fine it because the road is tight and dangerous.
You have walking for 15 / 20 minutes.

Grazie

No, ci arrivi solamente tramite il sentiero lungo la montagna oppure via mare
