Took a quick trip via motorcycle from Baska to Vrbnik. Quiet in October, but still plenty of views and places to grab some Zlahtina wine. We were hoping to find somewhere to sit down for a wine tasting experience, but this wasn't an easy find. We did, however, visit a couple wineries that allow you to taste before you buy.

A note here. I am prejudicial toward Krk and to Vrbnik as long departed relatives were born and lived on the island. So, visiting with friends in the summer of 2014, it was great to see that my prejudice was agreed upon as valid as all enjoyed the (all too short) visit to this beautiful little town. Streets are narrow, so best to park your car at the public parking areas on the edge of town. Wear comfortable walking shoes and be ESPECIALLY CAREFUL that the soles are "grippy" no slippery. The stone streets are beautifully clean and white...and easy to take a tumble on as they can be steep. For a a small town, there are a lot of restaurants with excellent views. Be sure to park yourself for a few hours at one with a view as no conversation is needed as your eyes take in the town, the Adriatic, and the coast. We ended up at a small wine store (which name I cannot remember and no Internet search will find) that offered Vrbnik and Krk wines (Vrbnička žlahtina and Istrian Malvazija) as well as some Krk pršut (Prosciutto). Toward the back of the store, there was a skinny balcony with 3 small tables and chairs. Six of us crowded into a corner, ordered a few bottles of the Vrbnička žlahtina, a large plate of Krk pršut and Paski sir, sprinkled with the local olive oil, and proceeded to enjoy one of those magic moments on a trip where you're experiencing perfection....Just wish I could remember the name of that place... Check out the pictures; there's a red pršut cutting machine right in the doorway. Can't miss it..and you would not want to miss Vrbnik if you happen to be cruising about Krk.

SUPER DISAPPOINTED

The "tour" has been a complete failure and disappointment .

Yesterday afternoon we booked a sup tour in Silo area for today for a price of 49 euro per person.

Later in the night ,someone of the staff texted me on WhatsApp that because of the wind, the tour would have been cancelled but offered us to take part to another similar tour in the Vbrnik area to pink beach changing time of departure from afternoon to the very same morning.
We accepted and we came in vbrnik where we met Jakub our guide.

The day was pretty windy but we aired up our sup and went to the beach.
After a little practice paddling around a small area the guide said it was too windy to start the tour, then he said the group wasn't strong enough and decided to stay where we practiced.

In the end ,me and my wife spent 100 euros to paddle in a very small and crowded area for an hour and a half.
We could have rent a couple of boards everywhere for a third of the price.

It would have been smart and appreciated more professional attitude cancelling the tour and refunding the participants.

Despite the disappointing experience, i want to mention that Jakub the guide, was very kind

Easily the village we liked most among half a dozen places we visited in a week, a bit further out than Rovinj or Krk, Porec or Opatija and still few miles or dozen miles beyond each of them (535 km exactly from our home in Milan, Italy).

Much, much quieter and less busy, with more reasonable prices and smaller, less crowded beaches.

Note: compared to snazzier, busier places, beaches have very little shoreline services, are smaller, with less or no sand and require a few minutes' walk down, from wherever you will stay or park, then back uphill; accommodation is less sophisticated, nightlife is a quiet mid-evening walk and dinner and chat in the square. And everything you will buy is that further bit cheaper for a same level of service. We like this better, and you?

I have worked here for 3 years, so I spent some time in this quiet and lovely town. Old city is perfect for walking through, there are beautiful views on the sea and shore on the other side. There is also the narowest street in the world, so narrow that not anyone can pass through it!
For wine lovers there are lots of places where you can taste domestic wine.
There is one new opened hotel Gospoja with good food and wine, on the best spot in town, facing sea.
If you visit island Krk, i recommend that you visit Vrbnik as well, at least for one afternoon. :)

In its narrowest part, the street is only 43 cm wide!
Vrbnik is a true traditional Mediterranean town with clustered houses. Within the walls, it is crisscrossed with narrow winding streets, numerous blind alleys and many vaults with old cramped houses rising above them.
Don't forget to taste some sparkling wine fermented in the sea, from one of the vine cellar with a stunning panoramic view!

Lovely little town with wineries and lovely views overlooking the sea. Hilly cobblestone streets. Great for a few hours stop over, very picturesque.
Visited the Nada winery and had a nice glass of their white wine, highly recommended!

I took my wife and three kids to this town. We were staying over in Marinska and drove over in the car - everywhere on Krk island is about 25 minutes drive so very convenient. The village itself is ancient, lovely old cobblestone streets and mostly pedestrian zones for walking. Lots of winding roads and small pathways.

Our favorite part was the two beaches we went to. The beach on the Southern corner of the city had really cool small cliffs to jump off. Cliffs range from about 2 meters high to about 7 meters high. Smaller ones were perfect for my little ones to jump off, and my teenage daughter and I jumped off the 7 meter cliff. The water was very deep and very blue. And warm as well! Its a rocky beach so not ideal for sun bathing but great for cliff jumping!

We also went across town over to Soline Bay for the sandy beach with healing mud. We painted ourselves in this black mud, and apparently its super healthy as well. Lots of fun.

My 10-year old son told me afterwards that 'this was the best day of my life!' which I found really satisfying.
