Truffle hunting in Istria is an adventure you shouldn’t miss. Exploring the scenic forests with Miro as our guide felt like a journey into Istria’s hidden secrets. Together with his dogs, Miro made the hunt both exciting and educational. But the experience wasn’t just about the hunt. Once we had our truffles in hand, Mirjana showcased the true magic of Istrian cuisine. Her truffle-infused dishes, especially the scrambled eggs, were a revelation — creamy, rich, and bursting with that unique truffle flavor. It’s more than just a tour; it’s a taste of Istria’s heart and soul. If you find yourself in the region, definitely give it a go!

Truffle hunting was a great experience. It was cool to see how dogs locate them and hear about black and white truffles. The walk around the forest was fun and educational. After hunting in the forest, we returned to the house to taste local delicacies. It was pretty interesting to taste different products with truffles and to find out how well they pair even with the dessert. The hosts were warm, and we enjoyed every minute of our experience there. Big thanks to them once again!

The truffle hunt was very informative. Miro was a great host and the dogs entertaining. The truffle-hunting location is a short drive from the house on land owned by Miro. The downside was the large group, ours was about 36 people. But we did have a successful truffle hunt and experienced what it is about. It was a nice day to walk in the woods and see the Motovun hill in the distance. Back at the house, Mirjana hosts a very nice lunch with truffle-infused items and wine. You can add truffle olive oil as needed. She then makes a large batch of truffle scrambled eggs covered with shaved truffles. All the while adding commentary about truffles and the lunch. The price seems a little high but you get quite a bit in return. And you can pay a lot more on other truffle hunts.

Miro, Mirjana and their team were very welcoming! They started us off with Rakia (strong homemade brandy) at 10am and we headed off to the hunt with Miro and their three dogs. During the walk/hike, we found a big black truffle and two white ones, which were eaten by two of the dogs before we could get to them 😂. The lunch spread prepared by Mirjana and her team was AMAZING! Huge portions and wide varieties of food! They were very very generous and hospitable. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and highly recommend this tour to everyone!!

Had a wonderful day that started with Miro, Petra and the dogs, followed by brilliant food and drink with Mirjana. All were warm and welcoming the entire visit. We developed a deep appreciation for all things truffles. The food was amazing. The Istrian lifestyle is magic. Can’t wait to return.

We are truffle crazy people (mostly me) and I would not pass the opportunity to go to Motovun for a truffle hunt and maybe some truffle goodies. We went to see Miro and his wife Mirjana and they were extremely welcoming. We felt like family right away as they greeted us with some homemade brandy and wine. We went on a hunt with Miro and his cute dogs Lela and Bella. They found a few black summer truffles and when we returned to their house, his wife made a delicious lunch with sandwiches and truffle spreads, bread with truffle oil and she cooked up amazing scrambled eggs with one of the beautiful truffles their dogs found. We learned so much from both Miro and Mirjana about wild truffle hunting in the area. We do wish we could have spent an extra day in Motovun.

Fantastic experience - a morning full of truffle hunting, fun and engaging education, and a phenomenal 3 course meal featuring the truffle that we helped hunt for that same morning. We enjoyed incredible hospitality and a cultural experience you can find anywhere else! Would highly recommend to satisfy your desire to understand and appreciate truffle!

The truffle hunt is set in the amazingly beautiful area of Motovun. Breathtaking scenery. Miro took us to the forest and with the 2 dogs found several truffles. He answered lots of questions and was very friendly. Mirjana is such an amazing woman. So friendly and loves her work. She puts on a great feast after the hunt and the jewel in the crown is the truffle scrambled eggs! Good to do something off the tourist track rather than museums , etc and this is definitely worth it. My kids loved it!

We loved this excursion with Miro and his crew. A family run business and you can see the love and detail poured into it in order to ensure guests have a great experience. The food was amazing. This was an excellent experience. Don’t think twice about booking.
