Makarska Jardine boat trip definitely one to avoid unless you like rude staff, overcrowding and eurovison. Trip was sold as free wine and soft drinks, this is only the case when you are eating, the food itself was actually lovely, be aware though its like feeling time at the zoo and you have to queue up with the other 120 people on board, seating is another issue,we arrived and were just squashed onto a table with 3 others, making for a very uncomfortable journey as space was so tight. Music seemed to be every bad eurovsion entry over the last 10 years. All in all not horrendous but definitely not as described

The boat trip with the Makarski Jadran can not be recommended under any circumstances. Unless you need Ballermann atmosphere and on top of that fat, drunk men dancing with their old, ugly women to the deafening music on the tables.
The trip is absolutely unsuitable for families. There was also no trace of Corona rules. We were promised in advance that the boat would only be half utilized. But after we left, every table on the deck as well as below was occupied. Distance was not to be kept. Nobody wore a mask at any time.
In addition, unlimited drinks (as described on the flyer) and food should be included in the price. However, this only applies to the outward journey. On the return trip there is only disgusting coffee and schnapps. No drinks for children. You will have to pay extra for them.
Speaking of paying. For the 250 kn per adult there is no transfer from the port in Bol to the Golden Horn. Here you either have to walk a long way or spend 40 kn for a transfer there and back.
The only thing we will probably remember forever is the tinnitus, which we will keep after the hours of music (>90db) and the penetrating announcements of the captain.

Igor the boat owner approached us at the beach - very pleasant, informative & respectful - so we decided to book a trip to Hvar & Brac.
We arrived early as we wanted a table in shade - very efficient passenger ‘placement’ as tables arranged for 6 people & that is yours for the entire trip - we were with a lovely couple from Bosnia, right next to the bar area.
The excursion was full - get on at the main harbour for better ‘choice’ of seats. Passengers picked up at ‘Places’ harbour had to sit up on top deck in full sun all day.
Pleasant voyage across to Hvar - the gigantic grill was fired up & the fresh fish & chicken was expertly cooked ready for lunch. Coffee & schapps served at the table - both incredibly strong.
1 hour in Jelsa on Hvar - beautiful town - back for lunch on board - efficient service with water/wine/Fanta. Really great mackerel & chicken - the seagulls knew!
4 hours in Bol - explored Zlatni Rat beach & the town - beautiful location.
Return journey, very busy bar & an eclectic mix of 80s pop & Europop tunes played loudly - party atmosphere that you have to go with!
We felt it was worth the €50 each.

The boat ride was cozy and nice. We got food and drinks during lunch time and the music they played matched where the guest were from. Most importantly Toni is the man. We loved talking with him on the beach and while getting on the boat. He was very cultured and we learned him about the country sri lanka. Hope to see him there soon:) // Four swedish girls

Lively port in the evening with restaurants. The walk is quite fast but very nice. The view is very beautiful over the city and mountains. There is a very shady little park right next door and the presence of a wheel at an exorbitant Award ( 10 euros). The small cove is beautiful but horribly crowded and the sea is often dirty (waste certainly thrown away by boaters) and it is very unpleasant. Too bad because this place is sublime. I will retain for the Rating only the environment and not the beach.

Day two of our gulet cruise and the only time we didn't moor on an island. Good atmosphere and amazingly friendly people. We had a pleasant stroll round the town and then ate in a very pleasant restaurant. Apologies if this isn't a sparkling description but it's turning into a holiday of early starts, sea air, swimming and excellent on-board food. So, marching about in the evening doesn't seem as though it's going to be my favorite pastime.
It's a shame I cannot work out how to say more on Trip Advisor about the cruise; the boat, crew and holiday company but they were excellent and I'd definitely recommend them. The company was; Explore Montenegro, the boat Queen of the Adriatic and the captain Tony. Shame we couldn't go back this year.

Makarska and harbour beautiful.
Boat trip on the CALYPSO which is a beautiful boat. However. One particular member of staff rude to family numerous occasions. Practically threw a shot of rum at me which I didn’t want. Shouted at me twice to move quicker. So rude !! I’d it wasn’t for his age I would have shouted back !
Promised free juice and coffee in the price. You don’t get this free. You pay. You get one juice with your basic cabbage and chicken meal. Book with another boat !!!

I have been to Makarska many times, from my childhood, and always liked this great small harbour. Small by size, great by what is going on there. It was also a heart of Makarska, a place around which everything turns. Ferries leaving, fishermen selling their catch, people sitting in cafes watching the world passing by... And that going on for centuries!

Idyllic place facing the Adriatic Sea. Many restaurants along the street and many cars parked and driving. Promenade towards the sea and the long coast. Small swimming beach long way past the hotel and the Ferris wheel.

We came into Makarska last week while staying in tucepi. It’s a lovely harbour with some large expensive looking boats and yachts the harbour also has lots of lovely restaurants overlooking it and we had a lovely lunch there. If you walk up behind the government building you come to a lovely wee square with a gorgeous church on it Well worth coming to Makarska if you are in the area. If you are looking for taxis they are up the far end of the harbour

Are markets on every night at the harbour?
Written July 21, 2018
Hello, We were in Makarska in May and the season had not really started. The market only had a few units open at night and they were packing up at about 8pm, but I believe they are open every night during the season. Makarska is a beautiful resort with lots to offer. We are already planning a return visit.

Hej!
Går det direktfärja från Makarska till Hvar (och Brac)? Vet någon pris och tid? Hur ofta per dag?
Med vänlig hälsning,
Sweden

Ja, från hamnen och en strax söder om Makarska mot Tucepi.

Can anyone recommend a good website to go through to book daily activities i.e, kayaking, cannoying. Also, I'm tried to find a reputable website for a day excursion from Makarska to Mostar. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks

As always I recommend going to the Tourist Information Centre. Then ask the advice from the Hotel/Apartment owner who they recommend. Usually they have a preferred company they deal with, after all their reputation on TripAdvisor is dependent on it.

Yes, you can get one from Makarska to Brac (Sumartin Port). Try jadrolinija.hr(also in English and German)You can check time tables and book tickets as well.

how far is the harbour from Riviera beach hotel in Zivogosce
Written April 25, 2017
I am not sure what you are asking about here, but the city of Zivogosce is about 18-20 km away from Markaska. Take a buss and it will use 20 minutes for the ride between the two places.
