This small museum celebrates the lace made by the Benedictine nuns in the convent; this skill is recognized on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list. This Renaissance palace was the birthplace of poet Hanibal Lucić in 1485, and was donated to the Benedictines by...More

The Monastery is well worth visiting in Hvar. Of interest are the lace items made by hand from agave fiber. Some of the items can be purchased. There is a small admission fee, but the items on display are unique and worth seeing.

We took a walking tour of old Hvar which included a stop at this small unique historical site. True it's small and not a lot to see but the story of the nuns and the lace products they make is worth your time. Judge it...More

Agree with the other reviewers not a lot to see but the lace is amazing if expensive. A lot better historical buildings to see in Hvar Town.

This is actually a Benedictine convent and museam that is run by nuns and not a monestary. Access is to the museam only where there are facinating displays of incredibly intricate works of lace. The nuns who never leave the convent spend their non-praying hours...More

This is a very small monastery run by a small number of Nun’s making lace. You will not see the lace being made but you will get to see some finished items. Interesting if you are into lace or traditional skills.

Not much to see here except the spectacular lace items that are produced from Agave cactus. You do not get to see the nuns producing the lace. It’s worth a stop if you enjoy intricate lace products. If not, I would skip it.

Although it is a very small museum that is run by the Benedictine nuns, it is lovely to see. The doilies that they have on display and can be purchased are amazing. They are made from the agave plant’s strings. I can’t even imagine how...More
