The fortress is open until at least 9pm (possibly 10pm in high season). I recommend you go either early, or after the heat of the day as it is a very hot walk up to it. There is a bar within the fortress which was very welcome for us! Excellent quality (not in ruin). Surprisingly deep prison! Great views. A... More

Best view of Hvar is from above. The fortress is stunning, historical, and just plane cool! Great evening walk around the fortress.

A lovely walk from the town through the quaint streets to the castle affords some amazing views of Hvar. You can spend a couple of hours here easily just taking in the views or learning about the history of the castle. There is a cafe bar on site and a shop or two.

Did this first thing when arriving in hvar. Had stockpiled water expecting it to be quite a hike, but it's actually just a pleasant walk, ending in a spectacular view. Wouldn't miss it.

We heard a lot about the Fortress Hvar, and after a good day sightseeing we decided to do the trek. It took us a good 30 minutes at least to trek up to the fort, and yes although there was a good view it was definitely nothing special. On our way down we saw we could have just taken a... More

It was a tough walk up the hill but totally worth it. The views from the top are spectacular and the fortress itself is very building. The entrance fee is cheap. A must-see when in Hvar!

My husband and I made the trek up to the fortress around noon. We were told by a local that we were crazy because it was so hot. We were not sure what to expect in terms of the climb. But we were pleasantly surprised with the paved switchback path that led to the fortress. We found it a relatively... More

From the top of this fort you have a spectacular view over the whole city Hvar and the marina. Beautiful! Especially in the sunset. They also have a nice bar at the top which serves whine and beer. Worth a visit when in Hvar!

The view alone is worth the entry fee. Can sit and relax up there, visit the tiny museum, and try and take some cool shots

Incredible views, lovely history and a little bar in the center of the fort and added bonus after the climb. 30kn entrance well worth it.
