We went for Holy Mass on a Sunday morning. Of course it is in Croatian - but if you're Catholic you know that you can participate with all the parts and receive communion. The choir is wonderful and the people sing. The local Bishop is...More

Once you enter the Hvar old town, St Stephen cathedral is the main building at the Hvar main piazza. This Renaissance church is the main building in Hvar square and look well preserved. Good place to take picture of Hvar town with background of Hvar...More

Visitors to Hvar island will surely not miss this cathedral as it is located right in front of the big square, namely St Stephen's Square, where it is one of the main shopping and dinning streets on the island with cafes and restaurants, gifts and...More

Pretty cathedral that dominates the main square in Hvar. It’s fairly imposing but much in line with other cathedrals and churches you may have seen on your Croatian travels so far. To its left is the main route out of town with taxi ranks and...More

A lovely building to explore and a highlight of the square. We only peeked in through the door but it looked interesting inside.

This lovely Cathedral is centrally located, facing the main square, where the locals often meet for cultural events. We were fortunate to see local children take part in dancing celebrations. There is no charge to enter and information is available inside to help visitors learn...More

This church is in the lovely square in central Hvar. Well worth a visit especially with a guide. Hvar itself is very picturesque.

St Stephens is a masterpiece of Renaissance and Baroque architecture and art work. Get your hands on the description of the alters and artwork then follow along, step by step, with the numbered guide references. You can’t go wrong with the guide.

Visited this church today. Most of it is a few hundred years old with beautiful paintings. Some pieces date back to roman times. No photos. Its a working church so be respectful (remove your hat and speak quietly). No charge to enter. Spend a little...More

I think photos are not allowed here so I have no photos inside of this cathedral. I went with our group and had a local tour guide show us this spectacular cathedral right in the heart of the town of Hvar.

Hi! I am pretty sure every Sunday mass of the Catholic church should be delivered at noon. Morning masses could probably be available at 10 a.m. Kind regards from Split. I wish you a pleasant stay in Croatia :)
