All reviews highest point zlatni rat nice view worth the climb two hours island hvar great hike hour round trip bring plenty of water coming down highest peak surrounding islands by foot hard work jeep safari road leading breathtaking views
Amazing scenery over the islands.
Reachable by car all the way to the top of the mountain.
During the drive when ascending, you can observe how the Mediterranean vegetation at lower altitudes is gradually replaced by pine forests that would not look out of place...More
You can travel to the top of Vidova Goran by car or taxi but, if you are fit, it is far better to climb it! Walk back up the main road out of Bol and the start of the climb starts on the left after...More
Not what we'd call a 'moderate' hike actually, as some have said here. We're in our later 50's, so maybe that's why....but we thought an elevation gain of 2500 feet in two hours is pretty significant. It's all uphill on the way, and despite what...More
Parked at the bottom where the well signed footpath starts. Easy to follow stony track. Need good walking shoes, trainers are okay. Three miles all uphill, took us two hours, not much shade. Don't forget your water, no cafe at the top end of september....More
This was one of the most extraordinary aspects of our trip. We rented a car and drove from Supetar to Vidova Gora because the hotel receptionist suggested it as a spectacular viewing point. Even that was an understatement. You drive up a very curvy, mountain...More
Took a roadtrip and drove to the top of the hill. Beautiful view and you can see a beautiful beach Bol. You can walk, drive or bicycle to the top. The restaurant was closed when we was there. Some locals that sold olive oil.

It took my son (17 years old) and I 1.5 hours to get to the top. We started from just behind the grocery store just off the highway. We were walking pretty fast and didn’t really take many breaks. I would say 2 hours would be a more leisurely pace and expectation.
We will stay a week in Bol this summer. Are there organized tours with bus around the island with a possibility to go to Vidova Gora? We will not hire a car, and think that the hike to the top will be too hard in the summer heat. Any answer appreciated.

I walked up it in early September in 2012. It was very hot so you are probably making the right decision. I think there are trips as there is a road close by and a konoba at the top.

how to get around the island without a car (11 Replies)
Hi, I am in the planning stages of a summer 2013 trip. We plan to travel without renting a car. How does one get around the islands of Brac and Hvar without a car? More specifically, we want to hike Vidova Gora and I am not sure how we would get there or to the beaches from our apartment. ANY ideas of must sees and how long on each Island is most helpful!

There are buses, but they don't cover the whole of the islands. You can climb Vidova Gora from Bol. If you want to do a lot of walking it's best to avois high summer.
visiting Blaca Monastery from Bol (without a car) (5 Replies)
I will be in Split for 2-3 days in May 2011 and I'd like to take a day trip to Brac to see Zlatni rat and Blaca Monastery. I'm having trouble finding advice on how to visit the monastery from Zlatni rat or Bol without a car. Can it be reached on foot? Do you know of any organized tours (for example, bus tours) that go to the monastery from Bol or any other spot on Brac? In that vein, is there any way to get to the top of Vidova Gora to check out the panoramic views without a car? Thanks...More
