Looks like photos. Also a school. See to believe it, each embroidery or picture takes months. Very interesting.

A small school ensuring that the art of their local embroidery doesn't die out. The work takes hours and the samples on display for purchase are so beautiful.

We had visited the sister shop in Shangri-La and because of this we were offered 50% off the pictures. Whether this is real or not but worth bargaining. A lovely young lady showed us around and told us what was happening. Some of the finished work is mind blowing. The art work is really fantastic.

Our group was so fortunate to visit the Baisha Naxi Embroidery Institute. To see embroidery students dividing silk into a possible twelve threads was amazing. Their work is for sale and highly recommended.

Loved this small institute which had lots to look at as there are several exhibition halls. While there are many things on sale and the prices range from moderately expensive to extravagant, if you really want something try to bargain and think that it took people sometimes months to a year to make. If you want to make sure the artwork survives you really do need to pay something for it. Small pieces start at 150 yuan for student art work to 68,000 yuan for the master artist in residence. You will be able to tell the difference between skill sets. Bought several and saving for some of the larger pieces.

This school is located in Baisha Village and is a lovely spot to visit to see the stunning work that is done here by the students. It is an honour to be able to send your daughter to this school. Some of them continue on and because extremely skilled at the work with stunning detail and colour.
You can purchase works here also, unfortunately the piece we liked was around $10,000 AUD. Although we could of got it much cheaper it was still out of our budget. Of course there were pieces for only a few CNY. Only problem they tend to think Westerners are all cashed up and ready to spend big money.

A lovely little place to stop and admire some hard work and beautiful products. We stopped here whilst wondering through Baisha and were shown around the workshop. So many hours are put into each piece and the lady who showed us round explained (in clear English) the experience and quality of different pieces and the work they do with the local communities in up-skilling woman.

We weren't pushed into buying anything but bought some pieces that reflected the Naxi culture and paid what we were happy with (they take cards!).

The teacher showed us round as it was lunchtime. Her English was perfect and the work these women do is incredible. The quality of the master embroiderer is mind blowing.
We were not pushed into buying at all.
We did buy one and are very pleased with it.
How they use such fine thread and make double sided art pieces was a mystery but the work they do is wonderful

Worthy stop for 10-20min to view the pieces, watch artists at work and learn a little more about Naxi culture. We were asked if we were keen on purchasing but they weren't pushy. Very friendly lady with good english talked us through the school.

An amazing school with a shop that sells student work, along with the work of master level embroidery artists. Work has to be seen to be believed.
