Flowers everywhere in the first ( time to go) 2 weeks of Spring. Magnificent "Old City" experience. Stayed in Old City at Liman Wenzhi No1 Hotel very clean ,quaint, small, well managed and very reasonable. Breakfast only served, food not so Western as we thought it would be. Must be able to walk a lot if staying in the city, altitude a little thin air, and language barrier is high, even at this hotel that says it is "English" speaking. If you want a real flavor of the beauty of China, and how the people live, eat, and thrive, this is the place. Did all of the usual side tourist trips and all were great, but you need a guide. We got lucky by hiring before we traveled Jon Zhou at Yunnan private Tours. Honest, very reasonable, well versed in English and knew all the facts about what we saw, and did. Planned everything for us and more. Highly recommended. If you would like additional information contact Gordon at ggfab2@verizon.net

Just came back from Lijiang with a day trip to Shangri La and used Huang as our driver cum guide. Huang is very knowledgeable in the history, culture & customs of Yunnan. He speaks fluent English and he's very dependable. He is very accommodating to our requests & wishes. He drives a 7 seater MPV and is a very careful driver. He will recommend reasonably price restaurants with local flavours. Thank you Huang for making our trip memorable. His email is hhhlj1025@163.com

We spent 3 days in Lijiang in January 2013, and it was a very relaxing and enjoyable time with Yang who loves the nature, is very knowledgeable about the region and gave us a very relaxing and good insider's look at the local people's lives. Yang was also extremely helpful when we encountered airplane ticket problems which he patiently helped us solve. We highly recommend Yang for families who are looking for a fun time, seeing local people's life, enjoying beautiful scenery and local eatery in a relaxing and calm setting.

We visited Yunnan last August and luckily we met Yang Yang---a gentle, sensitive, wise and capable young man, who is quite knowledgable in plants, organical food and wala, he is very good at cooking those things and even invited us to try. Very nice to look at and very delicious to taste. He also shared with us stories about the local natural and historical scenic spots as well as his past experiences during our riding and walking together. He is also very flexible when planning the routes, and they are always culture- and ethic-centered!
