I guess it was cool to see how an old well of Dayan Old Town looks like, but after snapping a quick picture of it and reading up on the history (engraved in stone on it), that's all there is to it.

It isn't a place you'll want to purposely look to find and you might even miss it because it's so small. It's located along one of the streets of the old town.

I was walking in the wrong direction to see this well. As I was passing I looked down to see what I believed would a staircase leading to a basement dwelling and there is water at the bottom of the stars.

Passed by a few times without knowing till I started to read TA review. I thought it was a badly maintained gutter . That goes when we do not have a guide

Kublai Khan supposedly drank here while on his way to conquer Dali. I guess this makes it historic. There are steps that allows one to walk down it to repeat Kublai Khan's deed. There was abundant water that looked pretty clear in it.

If you were not looking for it, nor paying attention, you might have just walked past it. For the history buff, this would be a fairly good notch on the stick if you are retracing KK's steps.

You might had walk by without knowing it, it's located at Xinyi street, north east of the Square Street, well water for those want to have a drink, china bowls are provided at the site, some said it has a sweetest taste, I guess in the old days, travelers from far away tired and thirst, any water would taste good, I would think this was it's main purpose and good heart and courtesy of the Lijiang people.
