Although we went to visit Lijiang during Chinese holiday in October, we were able to appreciate the glory of these ancient place, to breathe the history feeling like beeing part of something so different from Europe but so characteristic. Discovering places like that make definitely feeling in pace with the world.

See my review on the old town. One lasting memory is the number and high quality and cleanliness of the toilets. All well sign posted and many of them. Even toilet paper. I guess this stands out given the number of unusable (but you have to use them if you are desperate) WCs I encountered during the tour into Tibet,... More

Bu staying at the Zen Garden Hotel in "Old Town" you do not have to pay a fee to enter the area. You are able and are able to stroll the streets at any time day or night and experience the town.

This is a beautiful park, full of heritage and culture. The Naxi traditional buildings, the narrow pedestrian cobbled streets, stone bridges and small streams can be found thoughout the park. There are many photo opportunities. The city keeps the place very clean, even the public washroom was very clean, well signed and beautiful flowers are displayed along the road. You... More

I combined both ancient town and this place together. They actually are combined together. This place you have to pay to enter. The ancient town is free. I was not impressed with this area of Lijiang. I enjoyed the other ancient town on the outskirts of the city better.

Beautiful place to be, very easy to get lost, but so be it. You can easily walk a few miles without realizing it, because you're just completely soaking up the atmosphere. I love when that happens.

Not quite old town with real life. Most of the place became shop house or hotel. Heritage preservation should be done not only the architecture, but also the life inside it

It does not named World Heritage for nothing. Weather was pefect. Cold and sunny with clear blue sky. You may spend 2 to 3 days walking around, checking out some outdoor bars for nice cocktails or a good steamboat. Just watch the price as some may be overly priced especially the TEA there. Remember to ask and not assume if... More
