Very ancient place full of shops and bars. Overcrowded but worthy to visit. Very big needs at least to days to finish. Many sightseeing like temples, churches and museum. Best place in Dali. Don't miss it .

I stayed at Jade Emu International Guest House. a fantastic home away from home ! can refer to my review : “feel at home” 5 of 5 starsReviewed 1 July 2015 I hardly fell in love with hotels especially in China. rooms, beds, bathroom, food, showers, amenities, friendliness ..... However, I did fall in love with this hotel to the extent that I came back to this hotel for 3 days after Lijiang ( I have already booked another hotel for 1 night only at the East Gate of the Dali Ancient Town). Should have told them that , then Dave , the boss, may buy me a free beer. I have a very spacious room (luxurious room I think). big bath room with good powerful shower, bed -comfortable, good & tasty simple local Chinese noodles, the pizza & burger is also excellent. On the Saturday nights, attended the buffet. for a fees, spread not gorgeous yet enough & tasty. Especially sitting in an open air compound of an old building look hostel. By the way, the hotel that holds the buffet is another building belonging to the same group. They have an excellent library with enough books to kills you for few weeks. Also free use of washing machine is provided at 4th floor of this building. You can exchange some of your clothing with those clothing lying at a corner. Just help your self. For Jade EMU proper , they have the coffee corner, pool table and a few computers for you to search & facebook. The reception counter is also the food ordering counter is a bit congested at time due to space problems. However , with their dedication and willingness with a smile, they can handle. I particularly respect the young Chinese guy, Charlie. Not because he has assisted me in some ways or others. I have observed that he actually works non stop from one pace to another attending issues & problems (and of course , with a smile). The food corner at the main building provide a good rendezvous for travellers to sit now and share ideas.Beside the pools , they have a few tables for table tennis. good place to stay. Room Tip: get the big room if you can . See more room tips Stayed June 2015, travelled as a couple
