If you love Yellowstone National Park you will love this place. Best time to go is end of September or October when it’s not so cold. Dress in layers and buy Red Bull sport drinks and walking sticks. Have good shoes and hat and sunglasses because it does get sunny. Bring sunscreen regardless because the UV at this attitude burns quickly if you’re blind and blue eyes like me. The shops don’t sell this stuff so bring it. If you get chilly outside you can purchase the Yak wool liner as gift less than $20 usd. If you can go on tour with Chinese wife or friends they can get the self guided tour Walkman and translate for you. I only saw them hand out Chinese version but all signs in English so you won’t be disappointed.

The lake terraces are amazing especially when they fill up after a few days of rainfall. I recommend taking the cable one way and hiking it down, besides the spectacular sights there is an amazing hiking trail that goes down the mountain. You can carry your own lunch up or they have some small snack vendors

This attraction is at level more than3000 meters above sealevel, it's quite long way from Chengdu , gate city of SICHUAN to reach there. Now thanks to hispeed train running between Chengdudong station to HuanglongJiuzhai station which takes ponly 2 hours . At the bus parking point , there are 2 options to visit upthere 1. Ropeway ride for 7 minutes to reach the upper electric sightseeing bus ,2. Walking along well paved wooden path about 3 k long. It will take another 3-5 minutes to reach tge starting point to enjoy wonders of this valley.it should allow whole day time to walk and enjoy this wonderful nature : temple , colorful ponds and etc.

Turquoise, azure or aquamarine blue? You can find them all in Huanglong. The water in the limestone sinter terraces shines in a variety of shades of blue. Snow-capped peaks provide the perfect backdrop. Simply beautiful!
Recommendation if you only have one day:
Take the cable car up and then walk down the valley.
Walking from bottom to top sounds very sporty, but is not recommended for everyone because of the altitude. You should either have enough experience or have gotten used to the altitude a few days beforehand.

My friends have said the place was nothing compared with jiuzhaigou and therefore suggested I skip this. But fortunately I came here. It was a completely different place with jiuzhaigou and it was amazing here. I took a cable up and walked down the hill. Lovely place especially after snow. The waters are colourful and the landscape is different from what you can see in other places.

Warning:
- bring sunblock,
- packed your own lunch and drinks ,
-bring your own first aid kit and spray to prepare for your tired muscles
-bring a walking stick might be easier on your knees
-you might need wind breaker
-bring mosquitoes repellent,
-For foreigners, you might have difficulty buying tickets at the counter cause the staff there don't speak English plus tickets are bought using QR quotes and you would need to fill in the eForm in Mandarin , Or buy your ticket by calling a number provided at the ticket counter again you might have language issues. We paid ¥665 for 2 adults and a teenager to get in.
- and , prepare to walk for hours with plenty of steps along the way.
……
What's good:
-This attraction is kept really clean and its infrastructure is well made and organised ;plenty of clean toilets.
-you could drink the water from the mountain just bring your water bottle with filter
-there are a few places you could buy oxygen cans ;you might need this due to high altitude sickness
-you could rent charger for your phone
-plent of places to buy snacks although the selections is poor and expensive so I would say bring your own
-plenty to see, for examples, the beautiful pools, waterfalls, temples
-well sign posted
………
What's not good ?
-no wheel chair access
-poor food selections ;only one place that sells food and poor selection further this cafe/restaurant is located closer to the way out of mountain, which I might as well eat outside , after I am done with my walk.
-you cannot swim in it hahaha
………
Recommendations :
-This place is huge, if you don't want to do too many hours of walking , I would say just do the lower part of this attraction, more over, lower part of this attraction is more interesting and more to see. It took us 3 hours to finish walking after our gondola ride.
-definitely recommend you take the gondola to go up the mountain and make your way down by foot
-We get there by hiring a car with a driver for the whole day;we paid ¥500 for the whole day where the driver took us to this attraction, waited for us while we do the walk, after that, our driver took us to see the local village where we took some beautiful pictures .Our driver also took us to find a restaurant for dinner then took us back to our hotel. You could call or text Peter at this WeChat ID
xxxx18828809100 to organise your trip.Or, use local taxi or get your hotel to organise a ride for you.
………
overall, it was an enjoyable trip even though my knees and ankles were really hurt to a point where I couldn't go anywhere the day after, which wasted a day in the hotel.

Just a few hours from Juizhaigou valley, this place is certainly worth extending your stay for another night! It takes around two hours by bus (can be organized by your accommodation) from Juizhaigou.
Huanglong is essentially a steep valley in which a river flows down. Over time, this river formed wonderful limestone formations. The pools are filled with crystal clear water, while plants add to the perfect picture. At the end of the valley, you can find a beautiful temple with the famous colored pools.
Walk up the valley, do not fall for the cable car, which still makes you walk after, but you will not see all the cool sights on the way up.

The valley itself is amazing.
There is the cable car with it's never ending queue of tourists bussed in every morning but I'd suggest you forgo that and enjoy the day climbing up yourself as the the climb to the top of the valley is well worth it.
The travertine pools are stunning but somewhat ruined by the constant stream of shouting, pushy, umbrella wielding, litter throwing tourists who can number up to 10,000 in one day.
Best plan would be to stay overnight (very close) and get up first thing and start your climb.
There is a cable car to (near) the top but it's a bit of a cop out unless you're very unfit. Just remember that the altitude is an issue.
TIP1: If you decide to walk all the way up... take the right hand side of the valley up- it's shaded by trees most of the way to the temple. After that you have no choice.
TIP3: take lots and lots of water... and sun cream!
TIP2: If you're about /over 6ft watch out for eye level umbrella spikes!

We have been there April 8. With kids it is the best to go up and down by rope-way/cable car is recommended, like a other visitor mentioned already. Be careful if you want to re entry the part at the main gate it takes a view convincing words to the gate keeper......
Before we came here we did not know that there is a dry season between January and May. With other words the ponds are now dry. Quite disappointing. Recommended June to October.
