Arrow Bamboo lake was our second stop after the Primitive Forest. When we alighted at the stop, we walked the easy circular route. We were thankful that we did not missed the Arrow Bamboo Lake Waterfalls which are very lovely and unique. Highly recommended to do this trail in Rize Valley.

This is the lake where they shot the movie "Hero" because the wind is usually calm during certain time in early morning and the lake is like a mirror. This was the lake I took most of the pictures because the shadow of the mountain on the lake is beautiful.

Lake view was average compared to other lakes in the Valley. You can visit this place and start walking down the Valley to see other interesting places.

I walked the far side of this lake to get away from the crowds. It was good because with less people there I was able to photograph ducks and other birds in the area. It is named the Bamboo Lake because of the small bamboo plants that grow around the lake amongst the conifers.

The arrow bamboo is a stubby variety of bamboo - the leaves are arrow shaped. It is the staple food for the giant pandas. This lake is nearer the top of the right arm of the Y shaped Jiuzhaighu national park - The Rize valley. The lake is about 5-6 kilometers long and averages 1- 2 KM breadth.
The shuttle buses run along the road, which is on one bank of the lake and the wooden walkway runs pararell to the road on the other bank of the lake. Most sights in the national park are designed this way.
Alight from the shuttle bus, take the wooden walkway which cuts through the 'swan lake' (its a marsh actually-with a few migratory ducks ) to the opposite bank and take a lesuirely walk of 4 to 5 kilometers. The walkway is wooden, well maintained, well protected and broad enough. It runs through forest land. Enjoy the walk, its nature at its best ! Great photo oppurtunities !!
Fitness level : Moderately fit is enough.
TIPS : Take water/drink/ (beer) and light snacks (energy bars are great).

In the early morning the mirror effect is present here. It is a recommended starting point for hiking back to where the road splits. Don't need to go to mirror lake especially for this in the morning.

This was the first stop the shuttle bus took us to and the first lake we encountered in Jiuzhaigou. The lake is neither big nor deep. In early March some parts of the shoreline were still covered with snow and ice. The lake was very calm, and we can see the reflection of the dusty snow covered mountains, a serene beauty.

Somehow you might get confused after seeing all these lakes and this one might just be one of those. Still beautiful but not as striking as the other ones.
