One of the stops at Jiuzhaigou National Park. Great to be able to walk about the waterfall area. Awesome place for photography.

After an exhausting walk from Premival Forest to Grass Lake, Swan Lake and thereafter to Arrow Bamboo Lake, Panda Lake and the Five Flower Lake, the waterfall was stunningly refreshing and a rejuvenating respite for us. We were trying to find a real rest spot along that seemingly endless wooden broadwalk but could not find a good one until this amazing scenic place.

You can take your teabreak or lunch here. Put down your backpack and relax while immersed yourself in listening to the soothing and rhymatic huge splashing roar of the waterfall while being captivated by the stunning view of the beautiful scenery. You should try to explore by taking photos of the waterfall from different angles.

Pearl Shoal Waterfall is one of the two attractions I love most at Jiuzhaigou. Visitors can view this waterfall from different angles, a 360 view.

From the pearl shoal bus-stop, we walked on a wooden board path along a wide beautiful stream with magnificent view of snow capped mountains and changing-color leaves. It's a mere few hundreds meters until we arrive at the Pearl Shoal Waterfalls which was crowded with visitors but I managed to take quite a few shots. There a toilet facility by the waterfall and the parth leads further along smaller waterfalls and streams to the exit and the bus parking area. It would be great to pack something to munch there. There are a few public tables to rest.

We proceeded to Pearl Shoals after visiting 5 Flowers Lake. We could see shallow waters rushing over the 160m wide travertine shelf, creating a noisy bubbling cascade which when seen from a distance, looks like a shawl of pearls draped across the hillside. We proceeded down the walkway, which was just next to the waters, making the walkway wet and slippery. So be careful and mindfully watch your steps. The waterfalls have a drop height of 21m and are 162 m wide, indeed a spectacular display.

Take a walk from Five Coloured Lake (五花海) to Pearl Shoals Waterfall. It is a pleasant walk, not too strenous. Nearing the waterfall, be prepared for a human traffice jam down to the base of the waterfall as tourists will stop at every step to marvel and photograph it.

It's been said to be the pride of China. Only when I get there I appreciate THAT meaning. The water-fall is wide and far apart. So, when the water gushes downstream, it would break against the rocks below. And so, it creates simmering reflection of water that looks like pearls & thus, its name. Highly recommended.

Absolute MUST in Jiuzhaigou. The walking paths are very comfortable to navigate, the views are breathtaking. I found it the best trip inside JiuZhaigou. Take the bus and get off in Peacock Lake, and hike down the wooden path to Pearl Shoal Waterfalls. You will walk through the forest, pass by bluer than blue lakes and ponds... Go after lunch time because in the morning it is always crowded with the big tour groups.
