“The First Arch For Taishan”

Taishan or Peace Mountain, the most famous mountain in China, has eleven gates, fourteen archways, fourteen kiosks, four pavilions, and lots of souvenir stands scattered along the flight of 6,660 steps take you from Tai-an to the top of Taishan. Tai'an is the city at the foot of the mountain and Taishan is the mountain that looms over the city. All the arches are beautiful but two thousand years of decoration by human beings still cannot compete with the natural beauty of the mountain.
