I took my nephew and his friends here because the mom's were shopping at the Summet and the kids were getting restless! The pricing was not bad, $7-$8 per player if memory serves. I have played in a number of laser tag places as far back as Q-Zar, back in the day, in Gwinnett Georgia (grew up in that place!), Game Zone (also in Birmingham, have visited it a number of times) and Ultra Zone in San Diego (gone there once and it was awesome!!). The only problem I had was an odd one, the arena was to big, to open. I know that may sound odd but the challenge level was not as high as I remember the other locations being. My nephew and his friends were all around 9-10y/o and they felt the same as I did. We all had fun. Who wouldn't running around zapping folks with cool lasers in a black lit arena. But I think the layout and design is best suited for 4-8 y/o or so. The other Birmingham laser tag place has a smaller tighter arena making it more challenging. My recommendation to anyone reading these would be to go here for the younger 4-8 crowd and the other for 8 and up. Both are fun. Both have great prices and deals (we only got to play 1 game on that visit) but prices drop per game the more you play. Both have amazing staff and birthday party areas (from what I could see).

We were staying at the Holiday Inn next door. I took my son to Ultra Blast. He had fun at the laser combat and the price seemed reasonable.

I worked at Ultrablast from October 2018 to June 2019. I was told about 2 weeks before June 1st that I would get paid my last time on June 1st. It is now April of 2020 and have YET to get paid. I have tried to contact my boss, David, many times with no avail. I called his other work phone, got one answer and was told he didn’t have my phone number (which was false for I had called him personal number many times and even had previous conversations on it). I gave it to him again and was told I would get my check in the mail.

A few weeks later I got my W-2 from him, with the wrong SSN..... and still no pay.

I called again today (April 22 2020) with no answer for he “wasn’t in his office”.

I have contacted the BBB (better businesses bureau) about the situation.

I contacted Ultra Blast about a fun night during our youth group mission trip to Birmingham. They were super responsive and offered a great deal with a nice discount for our group. We booked a Thursday evening of unlimited laser tag and video games until 11 pm. The price was significant but I was ok with it for approximately 4 hours of play. However, that night when we were about halfway through our evening an employee approached me to let me know that they were closing at 9 pm and that he and his friends would be playing nerf wars in the laser arena. He didn't know anything about the conversation I had to book our event and didn't much care. We received approximately half of what we were promised and paid for. I have sent several emails to Ultra Blast to attempt to resolve the issue but no one will respond. It seems clear that now that they have our money they're not interested in making this right. We're likely turning this over to our legal team to pursue.

What's more the equipment was hit or miss. Depending on which laser vest you chose it might work and it might not. And the video games were similar. We counted at least 3 video games that did not function appropriately for one reason or another. The staff was disinterested in our group. Truly we felt like more a burden or distraction to them than welcomed guest. True we're not local but we wouldn't go back if we were. Be careful, they'll offer you a nice deal but get it all in writing ahead of time and hold them to it. Don't expect them to be responsive if you have a problem. I was so hopeful when we booked it but now I'm nothing but disappointed.

On the off chance I'm ever contacted by the company I'll update the review. But, for now it's one star and an angry youth minister who feels his group got cheated.

We brought a group of 30 from my medical school and the staff did an excellent job of working with us to provide a really fun night for all of us! They can have 44 people play at a time (22 on each side) and had a great area for food and drinks to hang out and eat between games. I would highly recommend this place.

My grandson was traveling with me as I worked in the area. We were staying at the Holiday Inn and he wanted to play. I had never played so he agreed to show this grandmom how. It was fun. It helps if you don't have knee trouble so you can crouch and hide but I still did ok for a old first timer.
If you are local, please support this place. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The arcade was great also. Thanks so much for the great time.
You can rest between games so that helps. They have packages or single games as well. Support your locally owned business. This place is fun.
