The Uptown addition has made the BJCC more attractive, but the concert hall and arena are still in need of major renovations. Parking is always a challenge for big events.

While the space is well maintained, if you love the 70's the buildings will make you nostalgic. The theaters and main auditorium are nice, the exhibit halls, the grounds, etc. just look dated and old. Overall though it is clean and, again, well maintained.

Power washing the exterior would do wonders for the looks of the BJCC. It was never an overwhelmingly beautiful structure, but it's modernistic- concrete- behemoth of a look has aged well anyway, it's just dirty now. Inside the Arena, things are fine in that regard, and the Concert Hall is a great space. I appreciate the fact that they generally... More

The civic center has been a landmark in Birmingham for decades. The building is old and showing it but it doesn't effect the venues. Been here for Bridal shows, World of Wheels, concerts, Children's Theaters, Babypalooza, Cottontails, Disney On Ice, Boat Show, the list goes on. Even though there isn't a parking deck, parking has never been a problem.

This Convention complex has been updated with a new entertainment district nearby. This is a much needed addition to the area and puts some good restaurants walking distance from the complex. The outside area of the complex has nice landscaping, but the overall look of the complex is dated. As a Birmingham native, I would love to see our city... More

I have gone to the BJCC for concerts and Broadway shows. There is plenty of paid parking and the it is easily acceptable from a number of highways. The theater and concerts halls have comfortable seats and the acoustics are excellent. A great place to go for a scheduled concert or show in Birmingham. There are also trade shows at... More

the BJCC is dated as you expect for a 1970s building, but around it is a growing foodie and hotel district that is quite nice.

We just saw Wicked in the concert hall. It' s a great venue. First there is a lot of parking available. we paid $8 to park just across the street. After the play, leaving was a snap. The concert hall has great sound. The venue is slopped so you don't have to worry about just seeing the back of the... More

I came to the BJCC from the Knoxville, TN area to see the play, "Wicked." I have seen many plays in a variety of venues, and the BJCC ranks right up there with the best. First of all, the quality of the show offered ("Wicked") was top notch. Secondly, the view from the first row of the the lower balcony... More

Easy parking around this beautiful venue. Inside the concert Hall is nice. You also may eat inside. Seats are a bit close, but every view it seemed for Wicked, would have been a great one. We sat balcony seats and view was great. Great show also. After, we took a short walk to art museum, which is nice also. Saw... More
