I don't even know where to begin to descibe our adventure at Sims Cave Park. Literally, there are no words because "awesome" and "amazing" just don't cut it. I was driving from Chicago to Florida with 2 teenage boys and I wanted something to do to break up the drive. I emailed Wes from the website to see if they had any openings. He responded right away and was able to fit us in exactly when we wanted. We arrived early and he made arrangements to get there early as well, which was totally above and beyond. I had no idea what to expect, but I thought we'd be waiting in some commercial building with a bunch of other people and walking through a cave. Instead, Wes met us while parking and led us up to a small building with a propane heater and told us to make sure we brought our spare clothes. He fit us with helmets and knee pads and set us off on a short hike to the cave opening. We jumped down into the cave from the ground and the adventure began. We walked and crawled through rocks, mud, and water for several hours and saw phenomenal formations, waterfalls, bats, rare salamanders, and fossils. It was physically challenging, which made every accomplishment satisfying!! Wes was truly accommodating , knowledgeable, and helpful along the way. He's also just a super cool guy in general. He gave the boys a lot of choices on which way they wanted to go based on how much adventure they wanted to get out of the trip. By the the end, we were exhausted, wet, and filthy, which is exactly how a cave adventure should end. We got back to the heated building and were glad to have the extra clothes. Wes gave us towels and bags for our wet stuff. Wes made sure we felt like a part of the "cave family" and invited us back any time. I'm a middle aged adult who has been to a lot of places and done a lot of things, but this was definitely one of the coolest things I have ever done .
