We toured in October of 2016 and the this time, found a good portion under renovation. No company store to buy products afterwards, we were totally bummed. Also, this trip, no snacking as you walk. The FDA put an end to that. We understand but...More

We certainly enjoyed the tour and seeing how the different types of chips were made. You do have to wear closed toed shoes, no jewelry, make reservations ahead of time, and they provide the hair/beard nets. Compared to other tours, this one is short and...More

It takes 2 miles of conveyor belts to move raw potatoes from incoming trucks to loading boxed bags of chips on a delivery truck to retail outlets. Take this free 45-minute tour through the Golden Flake manufacturing plant to see how chips, cheese curls, tortilla...More

I had no idea the a bag of potato chips took so many steps to make. We scheduled a tour online and received confirmation and instructions shortly. The tour was interesting. You must wear hairnets that they provide. At the end of the tour we...More

We had a group tour of the Golden Flake Company a couple of weeks ago. The facts about the company's products were very interesting. It was a very informative tour of the facility.

Fascinating to see how the ingredients are combined to make the chips and other snack products. Were surprised to learn the Utz now owns Golden Flake and they cross-market/distribute. Please do everyone a favor and read the rules before going in, e.g., no purses, cameras,...More

Who knew that all of the brand's snacks were made in Birmingham? Be prepared to wear closed toe shoes, no jewelry and a hair net ... But it is worth it. You will get to see how snacks are cooked, packaged and shipped. You will...More

We enjoyed our tour of the snack factory. Our tour guide, Larissa, did a wonderful job of explaining the process and answering all of our questions. Our five year old granddaughter really liked seeing the chips and popcorn being made. She especially liked seeing the...More

I love a good factory tour, and this was one of the best I have ever toured. The guide was incredibly passionate and knowledgeable about chips, and super friendly. The tour itself was not too long, but not too short either. There wasn't a boring...More

The Golden Flake Factory is not really close to any shopping areas but the Riverchase Galleria Mall is 11 miles south on I-65. That's about a 15-minute drive from Golden Flake. Hope that helps.
