We had a blast at the potato chip factory. Two tours started at about the same time. One was a class with about 25 school children and one was us - one adult and four teenagers, ages 14-18. Kind of private tour. We "had to try" a lot of fresh made samples. We found out that Golden Flakes are also... More

This is an awesome place! So interesting to see how an everyday product is made! And free tastings! Love it! Great to take kids to!

We were turned away because one person in our family wore Vibrams. Their email specifically said closed toe and closed heel shoes, but the tour guide turned us away because we all needed "tennis shoes" and heaven forbid something falls on a Vibrams being much more damaging than tennis shoes. My niece and nephew were visiting from Texas and we... More

Make sure you call ahead to ensure they are offering tours and wear long pants--shorts not allowed! Well worth the trip! You are able to tour the factory, sample fresh chips, and take a bag home with you that was just freshly packaged. Great piece of Alabama history

We arrived unannounced on a Friday when no tours are undertaken. We explained that this was our only day available because we were off to Tupelo the same day. One of the tour team fixed for us to watch a video of the process, then answered questions we had. When this was finished we were given two free goodie bags... More

We loved this little tour, the staff were so friendly and helpful. We joined up with a girls school bus tour and their teachers. The tour is free of charge and very informative. The tour only goes for about an hour, we really enjoyed the taste testing which you will not believe the flavour. So good.

We planned in advance for the tour, which is recommended. You may not go on a tour if you are wearing any jewelry other than wedding sets, shorts above the knee, or open-toed shoes. I would also discourage anyone with toddlers/tiny babies as it is loud and has open machinery running while you are on the tour. They only allow... More

As a long time resident of Alabama, visiting this plant is like a blast from the past. This plant was built in the '70s and it still looks it. My Dad used to watch the Bear Bryant and Shug Jordan shows on Sunday afternoons where bags of Golden Flake potato chips were prominently displayed and consumed. Personally, I've eaten more... More

We reserved a time to go on the tour, and it was a quick hour tour as soon as we got into Birmingham. Make sure you wear pants/shorts to your knees, covered shoes and no spaghetti strap shirts (for your safety as you go through the plant). It was hard to hear the guide in the plant with the machines... More

Came to take the tour. Make sure to call or emails a week or so ahead. This place is busy all the time. All free and you go home with 3 bags each. Yum. Hot chips right off the belt during the tour. All must wear hairnets and beardnets too. No hanging jewelry either. No cameras or pics on the... More
