This is a beautiful historical church in downtown Birmingham. Should stop in if you are in the area.

If you haven't discovered the hidden gems of Birmingham, start at The Cathedral of St Paul in the safe revitalizing downtown area. Built by poor, hard working Irish and Italian immigrants and maintained for over a century by its vibrant parishioners, St Pauls
represents the best of the best.

Regardless of your faith, interests or race, St Pauls has something for you. The architecture, the unique stained glass windows, the statuary, the organ, the perfect acoustics, carillon tower or the gardens are all worth the visit.

We visited on a weekday during the lunch hour. Members were coming in and out of the sanctuary for prayer and confession. Everyone so very welcoming, especially the staff that we caught off guard.

St Paul has been beautifully restored, make sure you check out the bell tower out the back, it's great if all 8 bells are ringing and you can see the bell ringers at work.

Beautiful church. Worth stopping in just to see the floor and ceiling, but the rest is great too. Please be respectful of worshippers

Beautiful building, although I didn't get a chance to go inside. Neighborhood is not exactly stellar.

We paid a quick visit to the cathedral while we were in town. It’s an old style cathedral and impressive both inside and out. Just sorry we hadn’t timed our visit to attend mass.

My wife and I had the pleasure of attending a Saturday night mass at St. Pauls. It was wonderful gazing at the beautiful architecture before and during mass. The acoustics in these older churches are wonderful. I would definitely recommend visitors as well as locals to experience mass at St. Paul's.
