This is a typical 'old' Chinese street. Plenty of food and souvenir vendors. Sadly the shops and stalls are generally low quality, really struggled to find somewhere selling proper artisan stuff. Much of it is tat. Be with Elephant is a small shop selling original artwork magnets and postcards. It's the best shop I could find on the whole street.... More

The street is filled with shops that sell Chinese pastries - do try some, they are really good when still warm. There are shops selling hand made candies, and Chinese brushes and paper for calligraphy. This is an area that local residents spend time chatting and socializing outdoor. Almost no English is spoken here, however, you can just point and... More

If you like photography, culture and history. .. this is the place! 1. retain of ancient building with food stalls along a street 2. BBQ wings, calamari, octopus and stinky tofu and other food to try if you dare 3. There is another street selling consumer goods 4. Enjoy the stroll and don't get too put off by food and... More

There is not much remaining of old Luoyang, a city bursting at the seams and upside down with construction and road works. This street takes you back in time with traditional sweet shops, eateries and souvenir shops. It is popular with locals, some of whom sell home made products. I bought the most amazing soft rice and bean paste cakes,... More

This is a pleasant area to walk around and visit stores and food stalls. There is a lot to see, away from the hustle and bustle and noise.

The marketplace is behind the Drum tower - beautiful masterpiece of ancient chineese architecture. Full of foodstuff, consumer goods, chineese handicrafts and other attractions, the market looks as a tourist object. But oh! we saw only a few western tourists, mostly chineese people were there. They tried foods, argued about the prices or just talked with vendors. So this market... More

This is a must if your in Luoyang, locals call it the old city. The are many painting on silk by local artist as well as old and new porcelain shops and folks selling nicknacks. Explore the side streets and try some local food treats. Over the past few years it has gone with some renovations and looks better then... More

The market in Luoyang's old town is really nice. Not as loud as the one in Xi'an and not filled with the typical tourist shops. In fact I spent 3 hours there and didn't see a single other westerner. The streets are filled with different artists and craftsmen offering their handmade products and various delicious food stands. Highly recommendable for... More

We absolutely loved the Old Town part of Luoyang. We spent a good 2-3 hours there just walking, shopping, eating and seeing the locals. We had read about there being a fee to enter, but there was not. We might have missed a part of the gate that is more of an attraction than the entrance on the south side,... More
