I went on a 2 day tour of the Rice Terrace, unfortunately the first day was rainy and foggy. However, the second day was nicer and she kindly took us back to the viewpoint to ensure we got some good photos. Overall, she was extremely friendly, funny and explained a lot about the local culture. Very attentive to detail to make sure all our needs were met. Thank you Shandy for the amazing experience!

I cant say enough kind, wonderful things about Shandy. From our email and text exchanges before the tour, to her daily guiding for us around Yangshuo, it was all a great experience. She communicated promptly with us over email. WeChat, Whatsapp, etc. She was so wonderful with our kids, especially our older son (4 years old). He really took to her and she was so sweet with him. I did a lot of research on the area before we finally decided on hiring Shandy, so we knew exactly what we wanted to do. We hired her to be our guide for about 3 days. She arranged everything from transportation, park/area entrance fees/tickets, to translating, helping us find places to eat dinner, etc. We had 3 really long days with her, including very early days and late nights, and she never skipped a beat. She would pick us up and drop us off at our AirBnB every day/evening, and any changes or modifications were always welcomed with a smile. She even took us to some special request tours that aren't typical Yangshuo destinations, but was happy to show us (Huang Yao Ancient town, sunrise photography, sunset photography, etc). Without hesitation I would recommend her for Yangshuo! Shandy is really great! Wear comfortable shoes you dont mind getting ruined (lots of hiking, walking, mountains, dirt paths, etc).

I would not recommend Shandy. There are definitely better guides out there for Yangshuo. Some things to consider: She quoted us 400 RMB per day for her guide services. We’ve been to 50+ countries and have hired many guides. This was probably one of the worst experiences. Usually when we book a guided tour, it starts ~8am and we get dropped off around ~4pm. Shandy arranged for her husband, Mishka (who is awesome btw. He’s super fun, speaks perfect English and is very knowledgeable of the town) to bike around with us for 2.5 hours. When he dropped us back to our hotel, we asked to go up to Xianggong hill and then explore Yangshuo downtown after. He called Shandy and she arranged a taxi driver to pick us up to take us to those places but she was not going to come and we would be going there by ourselves. I was so confused. Not sure what we were paying her for then because we could have easily hired a driver through our hotel for free. After some confusion, she agreed to come and take us to those places. BEWARE. You should nail down details with her before you book to make sure you know what she is providing and how many hours she would spend with you and exactly what you are paying for. In comparison, the day before we booked a photography tour with Jack (google: “jack photography tour Yangshuo”) it was just a little bit more money but it was the best tour we’ve ever had in our lives! He picked us up at 4am for sunrise, took us to all these amazing spots in Yangshuo, and then we spent sunset in a fishing village which was marvelous. So worth every penny. I ended the day wanting to move to Yangshuo because of Jack! This is not the experience we had with Shandy. When touring with Shandy, she didn’t seem very knowledgeable about the area. I asked her for a recommendation to a local restaurant for lunch. After asking us a ton of questions, “do you like fish?” “Do you like noodles” she didn’t come up with any substantive answer and recommended we eat near our hotel? On the tour, she just asks you a lot of random questions and tells you very little about the history of Yangshuo. Maybe it’s the language barrier. If you’re looking for an actual guide to Yangshuo, I wouldn’t hire Shandy. Shandy just wants to get things over with and she doesn’t seem very passionate about being an actual guide.

Best travel guide, a perfect trip is promised. We travelled in Guilin and Yangshuo and Michael and Shandy were our guides for ~6 days. A few months before our travel I contacted Shandy and she was so helpful in arranging our trip. She sent me all the information I needed, offered different suggestion in order to make sure we had the perfect trip. We travelled with our kids (age 10,10 ,6) and our parents overall 8 people. Michael was our guide which was a great benefit for us as we had a Hebrew guide so our kids can finally understand everything. We started with 2 days in the rice terrace – magnificent views, the following day took a boot to Yangshuo (amazing views) . We stayed at Li River resort (highly recommended). Michael and Shandy travelled with us for 2 days in Yangshou area, shared a lot from their knowledge and experience and helped us to have a perfect trip. I asked their assistance to book tickets to the impression show And not only they ordered everything for us they came and made sure we find our seats in the show. They took care of everything and made there best we had a great tour.

We spent three weeks travelling around China and we hired several private guides, and Shandy was without any doubt the best guide we had. We stayed four days in Yangshuo, and we contacted her through Yangshuo Outside Inn, the place we were staying, because we wanted to visit Huángyáo (the village where the film “The Painted Veil” was filmed). So we made a day-trip to Huángyáo with her as our guide, and we had a terrific time there: the village was quaint and beautiful (I liked it better than the extremely popular Pingyao, smaller and not so crowded), and for lunch she took us to a truly off-the-beaten place where we had some delicious food, including stuffed tofu, the local specialty. The cook was a friend of Shandy and we were the only customers, so we even went into the kitchen to see how our food was being cooked. On the way back, I asked Shandy about tea shops in Yangshuo, as I wanted to buy some tea, and when we arrived there she took us to a small, non-touristic shop she knew and she stayed with us for over an hour there, helping us to choose our teas, talking to the owner (who didn’t speak English at all) and translating all our questions and the owner’s explanations. That was a perfect day, thanks to Shandy. If you need a guide for this area, I cannot recommend her enough.
