Run far away from here!

Absolutely the worst tourist spot we have ever been too. Ever. Anywhere. The questionably "authentic" caves were overshadowed by the lights, plastic, signs, loudspeakers, yelling, scratchy microphones, strange glowing signs. It's kitschy but not in a good way. I felt like I was going to have a panic attack from the crowds, stairs, noise, lights. It will live on in my nightmares. The absolute worst part (if I could pick only one) was being herded into a market area along the "cave" route. Vendors yelling into headset microphones as they tried to sell their tat...sometimes turning off the lights to reveal glowing souvenirs. The mud pool looked like a manure pit and people were smoking in the hot spring area. If you really feel like you must go here to tick off some aspirational tourist hotspot list then be prepared to go into the recovery position after followed by a very stiff drink.

Worst thing we tried in Yangshuo
Nov 2019 • Couples
That was simply an horrible place. Luckily we negotiated a cheap price for the entrance fees.

It is Chinese literally a tourist trap. There is not much about the cave, they just put rainbow lamps everywhere and set up cheap street market INTO the cave every 5-10mins walk.

We did not tried the mud bath and have no regret, it looks creepy and dirty.

Waste if time and money. We should have checked more review on trip advisor before deciding to go...

Really enjoyed the baths!
Aug 2019 • Family
We enjoyed wandering through the brightly light Gold Water cave where there are lots of stalactites and stalagmites often looking like the descriptions of “ crocodile teeth” “forest” “curtains” or “dragons chair” . The highlight however was going into the cold mud bath which was surprisingly thick in places and then (after a long cold shower) the hot springs bath. Fun experience and although there are lots of Chinese tourists going through the caves very few ventured into the baths when we were there.

Spectacular Natural Wonder
Sep 2018
Loved this, water and rock formations that only nature can create, well worth the visit! Great facility with clean washrooms and vendors for shopping, very friendly and relaxed (and safe) atmosphere. I missed putting this post up after my visit, but felt it needed a review .... a must see for a “once in a lifetime” “bucket list” trip!

Tourist trap, couldn't wait to get out!

If you like loud speakers, lots of tourists, souvenir shops then this is the place for you.
The caves are beautiful but sadly ruined by over tourism, concrete paths, multiple souvenir shops, photo ops with guys dressed in costume and tour guides using a loud speaker.

Worth it for the hot spring and mud baths alone
Sep 2018 • Friends
To be honest, I've visited more impressive caves in the world, as there's many of these places where the locals historically believe that if you look hard enough and use your imagination (lots of in this case), you can see certain shapes, figures etc.

Therefore I pretty much skipped through the cave bit with some haste bored and disinterested. Then we came to the mud bath which was great fun. It's a little tricky and slippery getting in and out, but oh boy, once you're in there, it's lush! Cold maybe, but imagine a nice face pack, but 10 times thicker and covering the whole of your body.

Then after a quick shower, a few hundred yards further through the caves comes the hot spring, and I mean HOT spring! There's 3 levels of ascending heat, the hottest one is just sheer bliss and I could've stayed there for hours.

This place is definitely worth a visit if you're in the area or if you've been to the nearby Moon Hill Cave.

Gold Water Cave
Sep 2018 • Couples
Out for a walk whilst spending a few nights in the Yangshuo area, when we decided to visit the Gold Water Cave.

Nice reprieve from the heat. Refreshment stands, vending machines and washroom facilities were convenient and tidy.

Next time we return we will bring our suits to enjoy the mud bath and natural hot springs amongst the stalagmites. There is a shower area and dressing area to freshen up when you are ready to continue your journey through the caves.

Was an enjoyable impromptu diversion for us during a few hours trekking along the river, through homesteads, little villages, bamboo forests and limestone mountains.

Enjoyable visit to the Gold Water Cave
Aug 2018
I had some difficulty when I was planning our trip to Yangshuo figuring out if the Gold water cave was different from the “water caves” as well as finding an accurate location on the map! This cave is just north of Moon Hill, maybe 100-200m on the opposite of the road. It was 73RMB a person and we went through on our own. I felt it was worth the money. The caves were interesting, though the lights a bit kitchy. We didn’t brave the mud bath but had fun in the series of water baths that followed. They run from cold to quite hot. It was 32 degrees today and we were biking, so we spent most of the time in the “icy pool”! There is a minimalistic change room with simple showers and we left our belongings on a metal shelf by the pools. Don’t bother with the lockers up front. All in all, an enjoyable 1.5 hours.

Soak in hot water springs inside the cave.
Apr 2018 • Family
The cave is well lit with colorful lights. It is a good length, worth the price of the ticket. The cold mud pool wasn't appealing to us, however the hot water spring pools were just for our group. We spent hours soaking there and changing pools from hot into moderate warm water. So, bring swim attire with towels, to enjoy the underground pool. After bathing we took aquarium fish massage (additional 20 RMB /person). It was very "touchy" experience. We enjoyed it very much. After the exit, there are lots of vendors selling fresh fruits..It was another treat to our bodies...

All part of the experience, but keep your expectations low so you can enjoy
Oct 2017
For the amateur geologist, this is probably an excellent tourist experience. But for me it was a bit so-so. Entrance was inexpensive but we soon realised why - there are several in-cave shops and even an opportunity to indulge in a hot-water mudbath!! So your wallet is soon emptied.

It's ok, but not that special sadly
