The promotional picture is making this place look much better then it realy is. Still worth a visit if you have free time in Yangshuo. Nothing spectacular here , everything man made and no English guides. I asume they try to show some ethnic Chinese group's culture. Looked a lot like American Indians to me.

This place is famous in China because of an old legend that many Chinese know. The lake and mountains are nice, but in terms of scenery I preferred some other spots along the Li River. The people sharing the culture are well-intended, but something felt strange to me. The atmosphere didn’t have the calm I would expect, due to some noisy and crackling loudspeakers in a few places. There were some opportunities to eat small snacks, dance, and listen to singing. During eating they single out a few people for a special song, and I suspect non-Asians are more likely to be forcibly chosen (I was). If selected, prepare for lots of attention, potential physical contact, and no escape valve. On the way out there are some cool places, but be sure not to waste too much time in the numerous gift shops if you have a bus to catch.

Amazing one however it’s man made! Tourist guides who usually assist on the boat ride don’t speak English while explaining the place. You just follow your own tourist guide which you hired. Place is a little cold / windy during the winter hence go prepared. Boats are wooden and can be a little uncomfortable however manageable for the short span of time. Merchandise at the tourist attraction can be expensive. Food/ coffee/ snacks available.

Actually this 世外桃源 is the man made attraction based on a famous Chinese poetry in ancient time. Crowded place even no place to stand. Taking a boat passing the river and the cave not even 15 min your trip had end. But your waiting time for boarding is about 40 min to 1 hour. We follow the day trip to come here so I can't say anything. But if I am free and easy traveler and rushing time I will not come here to waste my time.
