Exactly what I was looking for and more
Jun 2021 • Solo
Thank you for such an incredibly fun and informative day! William was so kind to pick us all up and more that happy to tell us about beautiful Yangshuo. The market was a great experience, despite being in China for more than a decade I learned lots about the produce.

The class was taught by the incredible Jenny! So patient and had an absolute knack for explaining Chinese cooking techniques. Really couldn’t believe it was me who had cooked the dishes at the end of the class!

Thank you, great memories!❤️

Great time at Cloud 9
Apr 2021
My pre-teen sons and I went to Yangshuo over a long weekend and loved our cooking class at Cloud 9 with Linda. She did a good job explaining things to us and monitoring our cooking while at the same time letting us do the cooking. The beer fish we made was much better than the beer fish we later had at a famous restaurant near West St.

I highly recommend Cloud 9. Also, it's really sad that due to CoVID-19, they've had to close their Cloud 9 restaurant on West St after 17 years and that they barely have any students for their cooking class. Even though it was a long weekend, we were the only three students in the class and had a 'private' lesson.

Yangshuo Cooking
Mar 2021
We booked a last minute private class. Linda was very accommodating! After showing us around the local market, we went to the cooking school to start preparing our dinner. We started with the Fried Egg Dumplings, which was new to us. Then we made Stir-fried Noodles, Braised Eggplant, and Gong Bao Chicken. Through it all, Linda gave simple instructions, answered all of our questions, and was very encouraging! We had a great time and the food was delicious!

Great time cooking with Linda
Oct 2020 • Family
We had a private class with Linda. Made cucumber salad, egg dumplings, fried noodles and eggplant with minced pork. She was quick to change the menu when she found out one of my daughter is vegetarian. All in all this was a great family outing and well worth doing.

Good Instruction and ate our way through dinner
Nov 2019
We chopped and cooked our way through our dinner. We started with bok choy, carrots, scallion, garlic and ginger. We then had Beef with mushrooms, green and red pepper, ginger, scallion, celery and carrots. Chicken Gong Pao with peanuts, red and green peppers and scallion. and Eggplant, red and green pepper, garlic, scallion, and chili bean paste. All were tasty, good, and fresh. Our instructor was helpful in showing us the proper knife chopping skills and portions of spices, flavors, etc.

We Learned (And Ate) So Much!
Oct 2019
We had such a great experience here, first with the morning visit to the local produce and meat market to learn about the market sellers and to stock up on needed items to cook, next to walk over the town's pedestrian bridge to the Cloud Nine Restaurant off of West Street, overlooking the pond, stores and hotels below, as well as the mesmerizing mountaintops above. The lesson is held in a classroom that shares a porch with the aforementioned view, the restaurant's kitchen, a few outdoor, porch tables, and the drying area for flat baskets of fiery red chili peppers. Each work station was stocked with individual woks, burners, cooking oils, corn starch, oyster sauce, knives, chopping blocks, measuring utensil, steamers, etc. All of the items we were going to cook were already taken out of our farmers' market bags, cleaned, divided, plated and waiting for each one of us and, speaking of each of us, I was so impressed that the instructor tailored a few of the recipes for the special needs of some of us "students" (vegan, low-carb, excluding certain vegetables). We learned knife wielding and plating, and cooking (of course) skills, as we made braised eggplant with mushrooms, Kung Bao chicken, and steamed buns. The instructor was funny, engaging, patient, hands-on, and made the lesson so enjoyable, a real learning and culinary experience, and, afterwards, we all retired to the second floor restaurant. Along with rice, bottled water, a taste of wonderful, homemade berry wine (made by our cooking instructor), we enjoyed a filling, personalized and terrific lunch. Great experience! (P.S. For what it is worth to know, there is both a squat and a "potty" toilet here)

Made great tasting food
Oct 2019 • Couples
It was a rainy day so our cycling and rafting was cancelled. Luckily we managed to book on to this cookery course. It was excellent. We did a cookery class in Beijing which was twice the price but this was better. The food was tasty and easy to cook. We cooked dumplings and mushrooms filled with a pork and vegetable filling. Delicious and something we could make at home. We also cooked fish in beer and a vegetable dish of green beans and aubergine. There was eleventh the class and it was very run with clear instructions. A great way to spend the morning. It is in a nice location so we can back in the evening for beers on the balcony and an evening meal.

Learned something
Sep 2019
Enjoyed a cooking class where we made cucumber salad and kung pao chicken. The classroom is composed of about twenty stations with individual heating elements, wok, oils, vinegar, salt, etc. Instruction is patient, helpful, and fun. There were all levels of cooking experience in our little group, and everyone was happy. We ate what we made, plus the school supplemented with plenty more, including lemon chicken, fish, eggplant, beef, dumplings, and more, and fruit. A really good time.

The best cooking lesson
Aug 2019
I always try arrange cooking class when I travel. That lesson was prepared very well, recipes were interesting, and we already served them at home!

It's really wotrh to do it, especially if you love chineese food - it's the best memento.

Really good experience
Nov 2018 • Couples
The market tour was very interesting and the instructor was sensitive to Western thoughts on animal treatment and warned us which parts of the market displays livestock, including cats and dogs for food, if we would like to avoid those areas. Live seafood and reptiles were less avoidable. I would not recommend the tour for people with strong feelings on this subject, and seriously consider her option to wait in the produce area if you are a dog lover. Otherwise the selection of produce was huge and it was very interesting hearing about how different products are used and being able to ask questions.

The cooking class was fast paced and fine for beginners. We made pork dumplings, chicken with peanuts, and noodles with vegetables. The ingredients we used should be possible to find in most Western cities such as oyster sauce and sesame oil. We got to use an Asian cleaver and wok. We also each got our own cooking plate so we really did get to cook our own food. She asked us if anyone had food allergies before we went to the market. We received the recipies after.

We ate our own food after the class on the terrace which was very nice.
