This school and its location is highly recommended! The atmosphere, friendliness, food and level of training is amazing. Had an absolute awesome time training with Master Wu (Kim). Unforgettable and already planning my next trip to the school.

My partner and I just finished a two week Tai Chi course with Kim and Ping at the Yangshuo Traditional Tai Chi School and had an amazing time. It was our first time for Tai Chi and we are both 60+ years old and it was everything we expected and more.
Both Ping and Kim are excellent Tai Chi masters whose teaching styles are very complementary and suited for both beginners and advanced students. They have a real passion for Tai Chi and it shows it their enthusiasm and patience. The school is still small (four to six students in a class which allows for very individualised instruction.
We had no problem with becoming sort of proficient with the Chen Style 18 Form along with all the stretching, breathing and meditation components of the two hour sessions. We elected to take 12 classes per week, two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon from Monday through Saturday. Others did 10 sessions a week and some just five sessions a week and there were drop in students that just did one or two sessions.
When we come back (and we will definitely be back!!) we will opt for the 10 session a week plan so we have the weekends off.
We stayed at the school which we would also highly recommend for the full Tai Chi immersion experience. We had one of the en suite rooms which although basic is very adequate and very clean and comes with sheets, pillows, blankets, duvets, coffee pot, air conditioning/heat and a fan.
One of the highlights of staying at the school is having your meals there (although you can stay at an offsite guest house and take your meals at the school). Quin (brother of Kim) handles the facility and does the cooking. With the meal plan, you get three meals a day-Chinese style breakfast, full lunch and full dinner. The lunches and dinners consisted of six to nine dishes plus rice. Lots of fresh vegetables (they go shopping every day) along with pork, tofu, egg dishes, fish or some sort of meat, etc. All excellent!! Meals are served family style with the other students (there were two or three other students eating with us while we were there) along with Kim, Ping and Quin. There is beer for sale (5 RMB for a big beer!) along with juices and sodas.
The school is located in Jima which is about 4 km from Yangshuo and all of its craziness. The village is small and like all of China has lots of construction. Should you not want to stay at the school, there are lots of others inns, hostels, guesthouse, etc. in the area including a new inn in a renovated building that just opened next door. However, we found the accommodations at the school just fine and will stay there again upon our return. As a plus, there is a new cafe right at the end of the alley leading from the school to the main road that serves great coffees.Bottom line is that this is a greatfantastic experience at a very reasonable cost that anyone who is able to should experience.

I wanted to study Tai Chi in China and was in touch with another school in Yangshuo.
Getting there the teacher didn't speak English .How would I learn without any communication ?
I went around and visited many schools ,because they look completely different on the website.
I arrived at the Traditional Tai Chi school at noon time, they were having lunch,it felt like a family together ,I immediately decided to stay. And I think it was the best decision I took ,from the teaching to the food, the help and cooperation from Ping ,Kim and everyone at the school.
It was a great month and would definitely go back soon to learn more
Thank you Ping, thank you Kim and everyone there
My stay was very special

During our 4 months trip around China with my partner we decided to take one month of tai chi lessons, with the idea of continue the trip after.
Knowing nothing about Tai Chi, we read the reviews about Tai Chi schools in Yangshuo on the web and once we were in Yangshuo we went to visit straight away the Traditional Tai Chi School and we liked it immediately.
We felt really good that first month learning a lot, having good time during and after class, meeting great people and of course embracing the teaching of Kim and Ping.
So, we extended our stay at the Tai Chi School, 8 weeks in total instead of continuing the trip, and of course was the best choice.
The atmosphere and good vibe of everyone at school makes you feel at home, plus the food...best in our 4 months in China!
I recommend the school a 100% , Kim and Ping are very dedicated and open to teach about their culture and knowledge.
Excellent experience!

When i came to Yangshuo, i met several people who suggested me not to stay too short time in this beautiful place and to take my time, if i really want to learn Taichi...i didn't want to, because i wanted to travel around China. But in the end, i enjoyed it so much, that i stayed - and once i wanted to travel further, i extended my stay - again and again until my last day. It's not only Taichi, the living in this great traditional building, the delicious food and the great location in the quite and beautiful Villige close to the river. It was more the way, Kim and Ping are teaching and acting. They both are such great persons, help wherever they can, try to do their best to let you get as much knowledge about Taichi, kungfu, Qigong and chinese culture en general. They are amazing and i really love their way of humor :) it made me feel like i was at home. and some day, i will and need to go back to this "home" :) i'm looking forward to see you very soon! :o) THANK YOU SO MUCH!

About the school: I was in school for 6 weeks to learn Tai chi. This school teaches Chen style of Tai chi and the teachers are Master Ping and Master Kim.
The full day classes are divided into 2 parts, morning 2 hrs and afternoon 2 hrs, both masters taking class at their respective time of the day. Their teaching is in English for foreigner students which is a welcome relief to understand the basics, theory and all small details of the movements. The school is open for you to train extra and practice on your own as well. The teachers are also helpful for any extra help around in Yangshuo. Overall a very good place to be to get an introduction to tai chi. Good food and made friends for life here.
About the location: The school is located in Yangshuo and has pristine views within few minutes of walk. Many of us also frequented the Yulong river for dips on sunny afternoons. Cycling is the most preferred way to commute around to the market, town or just to go around. You can find coffee shops, cake shops, supermarket and plentiful shopping at west street as well.
PS: recommend the breakfast and chocololate cake/brownie at Wada hostel. Also several other places like giggling tree for cakes, breakfast, famous cake shop of Mila and an Indian restaurant 'Ganga' for indians like me.

I came here as a solo traveler and stayed for a few days because I wanted some time away from town and an intro to tai chi.....but I got so much more than that! Ping and Kim made me feel at home immediately and a part of the 'family'. They are excellent instructors and genuine in their love of what they do and their desire to share this with others. The lessons were excellent - well paced, interesting, practical and with an excellent blend of repetition mixed with new learning. Everyone who came through the school while I was there, including myself, left with a smile on their face and something real in the form of tai chi or qi gong that they could continue to use at home. The location of the school is stunning and the school itself is a simple yet beautiful. Go for the food inclusive option....it's delicious! The only problem for me is that my time there was not long enough! Highly recommended to all.

We had never tried Taichi before and it seemed like a good time to give it a try. The school was well equipped and seemed like a typical school. We trained in the courtyerd which had a full length mirror so we could see ourselves, Obviously we did not get very far with a one hour lesson. However, the teacher was very good and engaging and helped to engage my difficult children who were not interested in Taichi but more interested in boxing. So he sought to teach them some basic skills and principles but at the same time was able to switch to engage them.

Had a chance for a 1 hour session on our last day staying at the Tea Cozy Boutique Hotel. Our "master" was very friendly and thorough. Took us through our paces, taking us from the most basic moves to a sequence. He then demonstrated the true form of T'ai Chi - very impressive (scary).
