Giant Banyan Tree

Giant Banyan Tree

We had to stop by the Banyan Tree Park in Yangshuo to see the 1400 old banyan tree. The tree is huge and is a symbol of good fortune. I have not seen a banyan tree before. It is a good sight for tourists. You will come here only if you have plenty of time, otherwise skip this sight.

SEE photo.

Just stop by

We were biking in the area so we stopped in to see this majestic old tree. Apparently if you walk around it three times it will bring good fortune, health and something else, maybe luck! What the heck we covered our bases and made sure we circled it three times:)

Much to do about nothing

This was a bit of a bust for me. We had trouble finding the actual tree (which may seem hard to believe), the park is not up kept particularly well. We got lost a few separate times prior to seeing the tree which was somewhat of a bust anyways. You could appreciate the history of the tree, and the fact that it is still standing, but not a must see for me.

Just a big tree
Feb 2018 • Family
The big banyan tree is located around halfway along the Shi Li Hua Lang Scenic Area. Coming from either way by foot takes 30 minutes or so.

The entrance fee was 19 CNY per adult. However, inside was only a big banyan tree on a meadow.

Only visit if you have a great deal of free time

The Banyan tree is huge, but it is not worth making a special trip just to see the tree. The rest of the park is just typical Yangshuo scenery, beautiful but not extraordinary. If you go, be prepared to see lots of vendors and tourist groups.

It's a tree but worth seeing

It is just a huge and old tree but worth seeing. Very unique tree structure and located right off the main road not far south from town.

Nice huge and old tree

The visit of this Banyan tree was again part of a tour package and therefore we didn't have much time to explore the tree and it's area in depth. There was time for one circle around the tree.
However this circle was enough to give an impressive picture of the size these trees can reach! It immediately reminded me of the mother tree in a famous movie of some years ago.
The river is flowing nearby and with the setting sun this creates a really nice scenery.
Not really a must for Yangshuo but if it's on the way worth a visit.

Nice big tree

Nice big tree. Awesome that it have grown its own branches attached to the ground to support its own weight.
But how old is it? The tour operator said 500 years and the guide said 1500 years old.
Its not a must to see. But it is fun to see.

What a shambles
Jun 2017
Honestly I rarely if ever give bad reviews but that was such a waste of time I can't even cope with myself for going. Paid CNY19 (which I found a little steep before I even went in) then when I walked right past the tree without even realising it was THE tree I just about lost it. It's a complete tourist trap and shameful that they squeeze money out of people just to go in and see it. The area is beautiful but it is full of the usual relentless nagging from people wanting to sell you stuff.

Don't even bother going.

its just an old and big tree

Tree itself is impressive, but don't come here only because of the tree. Its made as an touristic attraction - mainly for local Chinese tourists. The site itself is crowded with people and street vendors selling various souvenirs. I would not recommend to go here only because of the tree. As a pit stop on the way to Moon Hill it is ok.
