We added this to our to-do list with our all-day driver. He questioned as to why we added this to our list. I told him it was a top pick by reviewers and he said okay, but we wouldn’t find it that enjoyable. He was right, lol! The park is sort of beautiful because of the surrounding scenery, and very cheap to enter, but if you would like to do anything there, there was of course a fee. The Big Banyan Tree was a picture spot and there were people trying to make us pay for a picture for their service but we declined. If it was an amazingly spectacular sight or UNESCO place, sure, but a tree, nah. The weather was too brutal that day and so we hurried up, took some pictures and headed for the AC of the car. This is certainly not a must do place and can easily be skipped.

We were biking in the area so we stopped in to see this majestic old tree. Apparently if you walk around it three times it will bring good fortune, health and something else, maybe luck! What the heck we covered our bases and made sure we circled it three times:)

We were so looking forward to seeing the Banyan tree. But what a shame, they made this place an overpriced, boring, animal abusing attraction! Except for the tree itself, which is quite big and beautiful, there were chained monkeys and horses. We didn't bother going any further. It was a 10 min, and 20 RMB / per person wasted!

we have learned about this tree in our primary Chinese textbook, so its interesting to see it in flesh.

The tree itself is kind of amazing, but around it there is nothing to look, maximum 20 minutes' visit.
20rmb/person, you can also enjoy a short doubled way rafting.

Don't go there!
We paid the 20 y/p to get in and see the tree. That part was just so-so and mainly just to check off the tourist list. However, we're not going back and recommend everyone to stay away. Large signs say the site management is not responsible for all the other activities taking place inside, but they should! There are chained bulls, chained horses and chained monkeys, all for the sake of tourists taking pictures of their little emperors and empresses with these abused animals. It's just tragic and we hope the site management would soon take some responsibility for removing those activities!

There was a tree...that's it.
Then they charged us 20 yuan each to cross the river on a bamboo raft. It was 30 metres across the river and took less than 2 minutes. What was on the other side of the river? Nothing. Literally nothing. Unless you count the 2 peacocks chained to the ground. They demanded 5 yuan if you wanted to take your own pictures of them.
What a waste of time and money.

We went to Yangshuo last year and visited Big Banyan Tree, of course. With a history of 1, 400 years, it is said to be the place where love story of Liu Snajie and A Niu happened. Except of romantic story, I found no fun there. It is not a good scenic sport worth visiting.

The Big Banyan Tree in the Yangshuo area was no exception; it was amazing and beautiful. Although there was a large crowd there when I went, it is roped off so you can still get great views and photographs of it. Definitely worth seeing, as is the whole Yangshuo area. If you go to this area, also consider a Yulong River Raft Cruise.

We paid 15 yuan each to enter the park, and to see this tree.
The park has nothing but an empty area with this tree.
It also has a small river where you need to pay another 15 yuan to cross with a bamboo boat.
It was a major waste of time.
If you want to visit it fully, keep in mind it will cost you at least 25 yuan. Which is not a lot of money, but to check this place, it really is.

Giant Banyan Tree

We had to stop by the Banyan Tree Park in Yangshuo to see the 1400 old banyan tree. The tree is huge and is a symbol of good fortune. I have not seen a banyan tree before. It is a good sight for tourists. You will come here only if you have plenty of time, otherwise skip this sight.

SEE photo.
