A show u can miss
Jun 2021 • Friends
This show attracts lots of Chinese because it is supposed to have been designed by Zhang Yimou. The show does nothing to take advantage of the natural hills as its backdrop, it has no story line, and the sound system is bad. You miss nothing. The other cities that do light shows like Athens have less pretension.

Warning!
Nov 2018 • Business
a. lots of late arrivals from tours
b. lots of cell phone use video and pictures, even standing up people.
c. yapping all the time, very loud overshadowing performance.
d. 15 minutes prior to end lots of people leaving slowly infront of you to catch tour bus.
e. price for B2 row 6 and up 230, but we got it for only 150 yuan.
f.limited restrooms.
still a very nice show 80% on the water and mostly from the right side island starting. row 17 seat 70, best view.
row 1 to 5 close but restricted waterview from ground performer.
special seat reservation not available!
leaving is a nightmare too. take one of the city golf cart type ride back to west street for 10 yuan distance 2.5 km. walking not recommended due to dark road and crazy drivers! meutermedia

Nice performance
Jun 2018 • Family
The show in chinese name is 印象刘三姐. It is a very nice show. Dancing and singing, showing to us the culture of Gam people (侗族) and their daily life.
We bought the tickets from our guesthouse, not the VIP area but the seat and the view is more valuable than first row area. Really thanks to our guesthouse for their great recommendation.
Visited on June 2018.

Not worth
Oct 2017 • Solo
The location is nice, the show itself also not bad. However cannot recommend it to western people:
1. We pay double price as Chinese
2. Very bad organised
3. During the show the locals are so loud, smoke etc.
Its a pitty.

Similar Acts All Over China
Mar 2017 • Friends
Firstly, this is NOT the outdoor performance with a cast of 600 directed by the famous 2008 China Olympics opening ceremony, Zhang Yi-mou. This is an ordinary performance at an indoor theater the consists of primarily acrobatic feats and a little dancing. And ordinary it is as this type of performances can be seen all over China and is nothing special. Save your money and go on a night scenic tour of guilin and take in the lit pagodas, bridges and rocks. This is a much better way to spend the evening.

Amazing presentation
Nov 2016 • Couples
The theater itself is already awsome. You can see a chain of beautiful mountains just behind.
The spectacle is amazing and different from all spectacles that we have seen before. They do almost everything on the bamboo boats. It's really special.
We took one tour with our hotel and it costed less than the normal price at the entrance. We paid 180¥ with the transportation and at the entrance, the cheaper ticket costed 190¥. Try to choose the places in B2 area (places C and B1 are not that good) or you can change your seat if the theater is not complete.

Nice, but don't expect to understand anything
Oct 2015 • Friends
First of all, the dancing and the light show is just beautiful. The problem is that, understandably, there's nothing in English. So basically you're just staring at a two hour dance and light show, which is OK, but not for everyone.
Second, due to local "waiting-in-line" culture, you don't just buy a ticket and go to the show. There are several "stages" you have to pass through to get a ticket (with people pushing and shoving around you). The whole thing kind of makes you very tired and annoyed by the time you get to your seat in the show.
Also, the locals talk loudly, smoke, hold up their phones to video everything right in front of your face, and they get up and leave without waiting for the show to be entirely over - thereby blocking your view of the show or forcing you to get up...

Spectacular Show -- Eye Candy!!
Aug 2016
There are all sorts of shows in China, but this was by far the best one we saw during our 11-day vacation. What a spectacular setting with Yangshuo's iconic hills in the backdrop. The choreography was brilliant and the costumes were amazing. You must see this show, which was designed by the guy who did the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony show. Yes, a MUST SEE!!!

The show was nice, but the wait and the cost
Jul 2016 • Couples
Pro - The show was nice and very entertaining.
The colors and the coordination were quite the sight.

Con - For me the story was very difficult to follow.
I felt the cost of 240RMB per person for B2 seats wasn't worth it.
Also I had to be there nearly an hour before the show, and the show is only an hour long.

Underwhelming
Jul 2016 • Family
The place was very crowded and the show is nothing to rave about. Seeing the location and settings, I was expecting something better than the Macau dancing water show or the water shows in many other tourist cities in China. Traffic in and out was also terrible. Yangshou has much more natural beauty to offer. Stick with bikes, river rafting and hiking - the best of Yangshou.
