We were driven here to purchase some water scrolls, it cost us around 10 RMB for the journey which was organised by our hotel. We thought that the town itself was lovely, lots of touristy souvenirs to be purchased however, we only stayed for a very short period of time. We walked through the town to the water front and... The ancient part of the town is literally one street long, with shops selling artworks and fan-making shops. Probably not worth the trip if it weren't for the local river crossing we took for RMB1 one way, which allowed us to chat with the locals and ask lots of questions. They recommended trying the pumpkin flower which was AMAZINGLY good!

The town is pleasant if a bit " rural run down ". Not really a tourist town which adds to its appeal. Lovely stretch of river close by. Fans were a bit underwhelming.

After a bamboo raft on the Li River, Lilly Lu our wonderful private guide walked us through the town. The beautiful fans are worth the stop here alone and the artwork on them is truly magnificent. I also sampled some local mushrooms cooked by the vendor who was selling them, I'd liked to have bought some to cook later, they... More

Another touristy town but with quite a lot of character. We visited during the market day and it was packed - there is an abundant selection of organic vegetables and produce available in the market, as well as basic clothes and other items. Not really much to buy as a tourist, but a fun day out from Yangshuo. The way... More

We wanted to buy a hand-painted fan and were told that this was the best place to go in the area. We were not disappointed as we spent time discussing with one of the artists what we wanted. This family business is a must-see, and one of their very, very reasonably priced fans in different sizes a wonderful momento of... More

We rode to Fuli on an electric bike (took about 30 mins) from Yangshuo. Once we arrived there were your typical tourist stalls selling scarves, paintings and fans etc..outside. This street leads around to the river. You can get a raft boat here (but this didn't really interest us). We walked around the buildings a few times as we didn't... More

What a lovely town. Really feels like we go backwards in time. And full of life too. It is hard to find. You reach Fuli and you have to walk alot and past the market to get to the ancient town which then rests by the river. It took us a while to find it but it was well worth... More

If you are a photo person, this place abounds with opportunities. We loved what was going on all around us. The people were friendly, the stuff we saw was excellent. Be nice, ask if you can take pictures, by gesturing. Most are very good about it. Keep your eye on scenes within scenes on the streets. This, to me, was... More
