I would have to say out of all the sights I did in Yangshou Liugong was probably one of my favourites. The ride to Luigong village is just amazing, hardly any bikers or tourists which makes the bike ride to the ancient village more pleasurable.
My family (3 boys) and my husband rode for about 2.5hrs to get to the ancient village because we stopped for photos, numerous ice cream breaks. Once we got to the ancient town (it's not that big at all, just a small dilapidated town) you reach to the end where you are welcomed to a nice family run restaurant on a platform over looking the river.
We had lunch there, you must try their egg and pumpkin stuffed flower, it's truly delicious when in season.
If you do not fancy riding back you can take a boat back to Yangshou for RMB160 each or RMB120 if you eat at the restaurant. The boat ride takes about 1.5hrs.
Tip: when biking rent out mountain bikes, having gears will make this ride easier as there are some incline (not that difficult but in the heat it will be tough).

I agree with some of the other reviews. This place is underrated. Try a meal at the farmer restaurant. The lady there was super friendly. Allowed us to re-charge our electric scooters and took us on a little tour of the village. This place is quiet and interesting. It gives you a sense of the real China. A definite highlight of our trip!

Really likes this place. About an hour bike ride from Yanshuo main town to Liu Gong. Take country road there and back, great views all along the way. This place was the least touristy place I went to and the farms were amazing and I was able to ride my bike through them. Take a bike not a scooter so you can travel through the fields!! Go off the path and get lost a little so you can see the local ways of living.

This village seems to be a little underrated online, it was truly authentic and so beautiful with incredibly friendly locals. It was really interesting seeing the traditional way of life for the locals, with their animals, farms and many many rows of peanuts laid out to dry by each house. It's only 30 minutes drive from Yangshuo and so I'd really recommend it for an insight into the real China, plus you can swim there and it's so much quieter than Yangshuo!

From Mushan to Liugong makes for a lovely 1 hour bike-ride. The road first follows the river and then takes you through the farmlands. Great views.
Liugong is really small and you will end up in the narrow streets close to the river.
We found a small restaurant close to the abonded temple.
From there we took a raft back to Yangshuo (including the bikes). Nice trip along the river seeing several water buffaloos.

Lovely bike ride to Liugong Village. It took us roughly 6 hours with many stops to take pictures, wander and enjoy scenery as two fit people. Bring snacks and water for your approximate 40K loop.
Our bike route: Yangshuo mountain retreat East along river to Aishan Village, southeast to Muqaio Village and to Liugong Village.
We ate at a local restaurant on the river, "Farm..." something. The owner was incredibly friendly, knew English and gave us an English menu. It is located at the end of the village on the river with a good view!
Rode North toward Dutou Village and through Mushan Village, looped through Yangshuo and back to Yangshuo Mountain Retreat.
