Among the best scenery throughout the Li River
Apr 2019 • Couples
If you are taking an abridged boat ride on the Li River instead of the full course cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo, this is the disembarkation point.

As of April 2019, small motor boats can only go till here (Nine Horses Hill), at which point, you take an electric vehicle to Xing Ping town. Note that your boat ticket to Nine Horses Hill will include this electric vehicle ride from Nine Horses Hill to Xing Ping town, so don't lose your ticket, as you need to present it here upon your disembarkation to board the electric vehicle to Xing Ping.

Extremely beautiful landscape
Sep 2018 • Friends
We took a tour vehicle to come to this attraction. Our original destination was only the place whose picture is on the RMB 20 Yuan note. But the tour vehicle driver recommended the Jiuma Mountain (meaning "Nine Horse Mountain"). Although it is not that easy to recognize all the 9 horses on the mountain, the landscape near the mountain, which is by the Li River, is stunning!

Landmark of Li River Cruising
Mar 2018 • Couples
Jiuma Mountain is the major landmark seen along Li River during boat cruising. However, you must use your imagination to figure out how many horses are there on the cliff facade. I can only see five (from the photos taken during the cruise trip) up to the time when writing this review.

Some of the most beautiful landscapes
Oct 2017 • Friends
We went with our guide that we offered a trip on the outskirts of the city at the pier of the boats slide or Bambu raft for 4 people, is a trip along the river for an hour and I think that it is enough because more time is monotonous. Our guide to calculate the sunset and was rather overwhelming, those drawn mountains and the serenity of the place with those unreal mountains than that currently reaches the point of sublime. To catch the slide rafts is necessary to pay 4 seats that cost 400 Chinese Yuan. But only with the landscape and river this paid more than cruise.

Guilin Shanshui is the best!
Feb 2016 • Solo
Guilin is considered one of the most beautiful places in China and a must see place. I did a hiking along the li river from entrance of the dork all the way to where I have to use a ferry to cross the river and find the trial on the other side of the river. The walk ends by Xingping and from there use a bus to go to Yangshuo. I think one needs to cross the river for more than one time to finish the hiking. It is a one-day hike.

Peaceful and tranquil atmosphere
Aug 2016 • Couples
I understand that the sceneries from Yangdi to Xingping are among the most photogenic in Yangshuo. I thus took a bus from Yangshuo North Bus station to Xingping with the intention to view the pristine karst landscape and the riverside view of the Li River along this stretch of land.

The karst mountain landscape at the quay of Xingping was awesome. The scenery at another quay further down where the bamboo rafting commenced was even more gorgeous and picturesque. Standing at the boardwalk along the riverfront I was mesmerized by the beauty of this landscape. The karst mountains loom like giants overseeing the many yellow bamboo rafts that dotted their way along the meandering Li river. The passengers sat steadily on the rafts and admired the drifting scenery as the rafts propelled by outboard engines surged forward in a graceful gait down the river. It was so peaceful and tranquil and the rattling noise of the outboard engines echo in the air as the rafts passed me.

Enchanted by the scenery, I told my wife that I would walk down the river and return in a short while. When I told her, I was not sure what time I would return. In fact, I returned only two hours later. The walk to Jiuma Mountain was a scenic walk and it was heartening to see the many lovely riverside scenery along the way.

It was a very straightforward hike. There is a concrete pathway along the stretch of the river and you just followed the pathway and you will eventually reach Jiuma Mountain. I met few enthusiasts like me but just that few. The scenery along the way was awesome and the atmosphere was peaceful, calm and tranquil. The setting pristine and natural.

At some point along the route, some fallen bamboo branches obstructed my way but I managed to squeeze my body through the obstacle. At another point, I met a crowd gathering at the river bank riding on horses and taking photographs with fishermen and their cormorants. The calmness of the Li River was occasionally disturbed by the few passenger launches carrying tourists on the river cruise. I could hear the echoes of the voices of these passengers as the vessels cruised near me.

I finally reached a destination where I could not proceed further in my walk. I asked one of the stallholders selling souvenirs at the bank and she pointed up to the mountain directly in front of me and replied `This is Jiumashan'. I was quite surprised that I could not find a sign board indicating my destination. I also realized that I could only count the nine horses from the other side of the river bank and not at this side of the river.

Nevertheless, I enjoyed the process than the end product of my hike. There are some street hawkers selling food and drinks at the river bank and the place seem remotely away from any main road. From here, there are electric cars and private trishaw that ferried you back to Xingping at RMB10. But I did not take the transportation and instead hike my way back.

It was a marvelous walk and I enjoyed the tranquility of the atmosphere along the way. Love the fresh air and the natural scenery setting of the Li River.

Interesting but nothing to do

The chances are you will be viewing the mountain from river cruise. the cruise takes about 1 and 1/2 hour. The view is fine but you may find it a bit boring before you get to the Jiuma Mountain.
